Need a Suggested Book for Book Club

We've just started our book club and I need suggestions for our next book. So far, we have read "Angry Housewifes' Eating Bon Bons" By Lorna Landvik, and "The Tenth Circle" By Jodi Picoult.

It's my choice to pick the next book and I have no idea what to choose. I find that I am really enjoying the Jodi Picoult books, however I want to try a different author.

Thanks!

Here are a few of the best I've read recently:
- Daughter of Fortune by Isabel Allende
- Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
- The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks

Let us know what you choose....I'm always looking for a good recommendation myself. :-)

Something a little lighter that I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned is the Twilight series from Stephenie Meyer.

There are 4 books in the series and each one gets better & better! Most people who read these books can't put them down and you find yourself finishing a book in two days, or less!!! I've personally got several people to read them and everyone has LOVED them and finished all 4 in record time!

The books in order are:
Twilight
New Moon
Eclipse
Breaking Dawn

The books are basically a Romeo & Juliet type love-story, set in modern day, with a twist. The movie comes out right before Thanksgiving, so hurry and then you all can go see the movie!

In our book club, we're reading The Shack by William P Young, and it's a mind-bender and great for discussion.

Love my book club... but I won't read certain books listed here... like Lovely Bones... I don't do well with violent deaths, so I avoid reading about them. And my group read Lovely Bones and Lucky (the biographical story of the author of Lovely Bones) together and I wouldn't do it. I know my limits! With that said we just read The Shack and I was hysterical and sobbing for weeks... good book but I have a low threshold.

We've read so many and I don't like Jodi Picault but I loved Lorna Lidvik ... but here's some of my favorites...

Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Marc Haddon

I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb

Angel of Repose by Wallace Stegner

The Alchemist by Paulo Cuehlo

The Red Tent by Anita Diamante

Birth of Venus by Susan Durant

Galileo's Daughter by Dava Sobel

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See

You might check your local library. My library (in Irving) has book club kits that come with multiple copies of a book, along with discussion questions and other stuff.

I have a PDF copy of Suze Orman's Woman and Money I downloaded for free off Oprah's website a few months ago. It's 274 pages I think. You can forward to all your friends and the don't have to purchase this one.. Send me a message with your e-mail if you would like for me to e-mail it to you. I really enjoyed it. And with today's economy, we need all the tips we can get!

In our book club we just finished reading the Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. We are reading Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortrnson and David Oliver Relin. The Memory Keepers Daughter by Kim Edwards is also a good book.
We love Jodi Picoult books too. She has so many great books.

Have Fun!

I just finished a really good book that my Mom's bookclub read called Between, Georgia. Not sure who wrote it but its a newer book so I should not be hard to find. Also another of my favs was Water for Elephants.

Good luck
