Need a New Ob/Gyn Who Uses On-Cue Pump and Understands Post-Partum Depression

I am looking for a new ob/gyn. I was very loyal to my last doctor and although he was gruff at times he was excellent in the OR where I had my son and saved both my son's and my life during a complicated delivery. I recently went in for my annual and he was asking me my plans on having another baby. I expressed some concern and nervousness because of the symptoms I had from PPD last time (hallucinations, etc.). He basically told me I was crazy and that I need to see a psychiatrist. He saw me shortly after my delivery and when I expressed concerns about this then he blew it off then. This time was the last straw.
My only request from the doctor is that they use the On-Cue pump (a ball filled with pain medication that made my last c-section a breeze), as a C-section will be necessary for all of my subsequent children. I do not care about the gender of the doctor. Thanks so much for your help!

Craig Ranch OBGYN does use the Pain Ball! Wonderful...I had it with my last C-section as well. Dr. Andy Shimer delivered my child, although I really like all of the doctors...he was the one on call that day. He did an EXCELLENT job cleaning up my scar from my first c-section...I highly recommend this office.

Hi, I am not sure where you are located..but I highly recommend Felicia Tillman at Presby Dallas. She is with Health Central Women's care. She is a great doc and delivered my last child via csection. She is very compassionate and is a calming person to be around. She is relatively young (I'd guess 40s). I drive all the way from Plano to see her and delivered there.

It is good of you to take PPD very seriously and to demand the help you need. Good for you!

I absolutely adore my OBGYN! Her name is Dr. Judy Hsu and she practices with North Texas OBGYN right by Medical Center of Plano. I just had my little girl in October and had to have a C-section as well. I honestly am not sure if she uses the on-cue pump, but my c-section went really well. I'm sure you could ask. Her number is ###-###-####. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking a doctor. She really listens to concerns and genuinely cares for her patients. I've had her call me from home more than once to check on me during my pregnancy and since then. Really, she can be more like talking to a girlfriend, but I totally trust her medically, as well. She has been Doctor of the Year for North Texas for something like 5 years in a row. And she's recently had her own baby, too, so she understands. Anyway, I vote for Dr. Hsu! :)

I too had the pain ball at Craig Ranch OBGYN. I love them, everyone in the practice is wonderful and very understanding. The doctor that ended up delivering my baby was Dr. Joyner, but I saw all of the doctors through out my pregnancy.

I absolutely LOVE Craig Ranch OBGYN. Dr. Tricia Shimer delivered my baby. All the Dr's are EXCELLENT there. Also they TOTALLY understand PPD. I had it with both my children and was given proper medication to treat it. I had the Pain Ball there.. put in after my C-section and it was great.

Let me know if you have any questions!

I used Craig Ranch OB/Gyn for both of my babies. Both were c/section and both times I got the "pain ball". I think it is what you are talking about. There are four docs there and you have to see them all while pregnant-one man and three women. All of them are awesome. I had a rare syndrome while pregnant that put my life in great danger and they were great. Good Luck.

Dr Katrina Walsh

I had PPD with my first kiddo, and my then OB was completely dismissive. It was BAD. But then I had a tramautic situation as well where my son ended up in NICU and no one TOLD me where he was for 12 hours.

I alerted Dr Walsh to what happened the first time and RIGHT before delivery she started asking me if I wanted to go ahead and get preventative councelling or medicines to make the transition with my new child easier on us all. I did decline her as I felt that the PPD was probably related to the trauma of not knowing if my son was even alive. With the gentle care and concern of Dr Walsh, I didnt go through PPD other than a mild baby blues...she is very observant and considerate. I cannot say enough wonderful about her

Craig Ranch OB/GYN off of Hwy 121 between Alma and Custer between Frisco and McKinney. It used to be a husband and wife team (Andy and Tricia Shimer) but over the last few years they have added 2 new doctors to their practice (Sara Roberts and Shea Joyner). Tricia has done my 2 c-sections and another surgery where they went through my c-section scar and has always used the pain ball. I can't speak for the post partum depression but know that my last pregnancy this past summer I was having a lot of anxiety because of complications from my 1st pregnancy. They were all very understanding and did not make me feel as though I was crazy and the only person that this ever happened to. Not only did they refer me to a therapist (which helped more than I ever imagined it could) but they also let me know that there were medications I could use if I needed them. All three women in the practice are fairly new moms too which I like because I feel like they can relate and sympathize better. Their number is ###-###-####. Good luck.
