I need to find a new family doctor for myself, preferably in Arlington. I've been going to the same doctor for many years and like him, but I feel like he's blowing me off now. I've had a lot of issues this past year and have visited my doctor alot. I don't know if my issues/symptoms are related or not, but he keeps telling me it's just stress. Well, I've been stressed for the past 30 years but have never felt like this. This is something different. In addition, my older sister has been diagnosed with several things in the past couple of years, such as antiphospholipid syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis and ischemic colitis. She's also tested positive for lupus but hasn't been diagnosed with it. I'm having many of the same problems that she started out having. I'm tired of hearing that I'm stressed or that I am a hypochondriac. I need a doctor who will listen to me.

T.,

You probably need to find a good INTERNAL MEDICINE physician and get a complete physical. Adult health issues are their focus. Sometimes it is good to get a "new pair of eyes" to evaluate your situation. An Internal Medicine physician can serve as your primary care doctor, but they don't see children.

My suggestion would be to go to an internist, they specialize in some of those things your sister has or at least diagnosing them. I use Dr Perryman in Arlington and they do seem to take as long with me as I want them too.

It may be a little further south than you want to drive, but I am very happy with Dr. Gerald Ray at Mansfield Family Clinic on Broad Street. I was getting very frustrated with doctors who kept telling me my thyroid was normal when I knew that MY normal was different. Dr. Ray agreed, upped my thyroid meds and lo and behold I was pregnant within a few months (my out of whack thyroid was keeping me from getting pregnant). I say all this to say Dr. Ray listens and will do the lab work and tests needed to find out what's going on.

Karla Dick at Family Healthcare Associates on FM 157 (Cooper) near the new YMCA (this could be Mansfield) is easy to talk to and seems to care. Her phone # is ###-###-####

Just something to consider...do you drink diet drinks? I have heard of the artifical sweetner causing some of the symptoms you describe.

God Bless you.
