Need a Multi-Room Monitor Solution

Hi Ladies!

I am pregnant with baby #2 (little girl due in August) and need some advice regarding baby monitors. I have a 16 month old son and we've used the Graco iMonitor with the base unit in his nursery and have two receivers, one on the first floor and one on the second floor.

This set-up has been great for one child, but now that we'll have two (in two different rooms), I need to update the system. I've only been able to find one monitor that comes with two nursery units and two parent units (Graco iMonitor Duo Baby Monitor). This is the exact same thing I have now with one additonal nursery unit.

Does anyone know if I can just buy another nursery unit or do I have to get a whole new system? Also, does anyone have any recommendations other than the Graco iMonitor? While the Graco I have now has been okay, it's not the greatest and we've had annoying problems with beeping and battery charging.

Thanks ladies!

I received four baby monitors as gifts with my first of three children. I returned them all to Babies R Us. I never figured out what use I would have for them.

In retrospect, I'm glad that I did that.

Hi H. - you should be able to just buy another nursery unit. Just make sure it is exactly the same model number so that it runs on the same frequency as the one you have now. We were able to do this with our Fischer Price monitor sets just fine. The FP has been pretty much bomb proof and a very good monitor.

btw - we used batteries at first but had much better luck just plugging them in.

Happy days!

Hi H., We use the Graco system and yes, you do have to buy a whole new system. Bummer! We love them and they work great. If I had a complaint, it would be that the battery does not last as long as I would like. I usually just keep mine on the stand, charging while I listen. The only time this doesn't work is when I am outside gardening.
Hope this helps.

I would purchase the duo system. If you just purchase another nursery unit your chances of interferance are very likely.

One monitor should be fine unless you have children in different areas of the house. Our parents lived without such things and could hear us (especially a 2 year old) just fine. You could also check into intercom phones (cordless expandable phones) with room monitoring--it will be useful beyond the life of a baby monitor.
