Hi ladies,
My work schedule has just changed and now I am looking for playgroups for my 14 month old son. I have checked out meetup.com but not had much success. Can anyone recommend a good playgroup? My son loves to play with other kids and is not a bully. I am 29 years old and married. I live in the Sacramento area. Thanks in advance for your help.
Jenn

Hey J., I run a moms group in Rancho Cordova thruogh meetup but also run the mommmy organizer group too.....whre in Sac do you live, maybe there is a group you have not looked into yet....

Have you looked into MOPS or a strollerstrides class. MOPS is more structured than a meetup group and may have more poilcies.....then there is strollerstrides where they work out with babies in the strollers as well as have planned playdates....

also check out CafeMom or Yahoo Mom groups...if anything you might meet some mommas in your area to have playdates with

And, last but not least.....try starting your own mommy group...one of the shyest mommas in my groups started her own Phillipino moms group and it is a great success. Here is a woman who came to the US not konwing anyone and now she has so many friends she has more than what she has in the Phillipines!

You are more than welcome to join my group, but we are at a membership freeze.....we have 50 members and any number above that just starts making the group less close and members do not know each other. We do have a waiting list and you are more than welcome to submit your application and wait for a spot to open up, but I do not forsee any spots coming up in he near fuutre.

If you do start your own group, you can email me anytime on questions etc...don't mind at all......and I probably would have started another momma group, but my girls are "aging" out of playgroup soon and I'm moving on to the next best thing.....girlscouts!

Good Luck and please contact me if you need any help.

Hi Jenn, I recently became a stay at home mom and have 2 kids. A 10-month old girl and a 3 year old boy. Both are good kids. If you want to meet up one day, respond to this and we can see if we can start up our own mommy's group. Hope to hear from you.

Dear J.,
I hope you can find a playgroup in your neighborhood. If you do - great! But also consider starting one! However that works out, consider applying for a Community Grant from First 5 Sacramento. They know that playgroups and other groups where moms and caregivers get together can be so very important for families and the community as a whole. Check out their website at www.first5sacramento.net The activities must be for kids zero to five years and help parents (or caregivers) connect/network in Sacramento County. The grants can be for up to $5000 for projects up to one-year. The grants have funded playgroups, art and music activities and other great ideas. The application is pretty simple and the staff helps with the process. Good luck - J.

Hi J.. I read that you live in North Highlands, I don't know if Roseville is too far for you to drive or not but I joined a moms group in Roseville (I live in Antelope) through meetup.com and they are REALLY active, there's something for everyone. We have a lot of fun and would love to have you join. Good Luck!
