Need a Good Washer

We bought a front loader Whirlpool Duet washer 2 yrs ago. It was great the 1st year and as soon as the 1 yr warrenty was up it has given me problems. We bought the extended warrenty and have had the repair guys out here several times. They are coming out Monday morning again. I am so tired of the same problem with this washer that I just want a new one that will work without all the codes going off all the time.
My question is does anyone have a great washer that doesn't have any problems. I don't care if it is a front loader or top loader just one that works and I don't have to wait for days and laundry piling up to get laundry done.
TIA
Liz

So What Happened?

Well the repair man came and again nothing is wrong with the washer and the sensor is good. We bought the washer at Costco going there this weekend and see if they can do anything because it is not worth letting all of our clothes pile up over the weekend and they can never find anything wrong with it. Still arguing with dh to get a new washer that won't break down so often. Thanks for all the responses.

Hi,
I have a Fisher & Paykel that I got at Lowe's 3 years ago and have not had any trouble with it (knock on wood). They sold it to me as a machine with fewer parts than any other, so there is less to break down and easier repairs if any are needed. I did just have to get a new dryer and I love my Whirlpool Cabrio. The washer looks really nice too, but I couldn't justify buying a new washer when my other one is so new and trouble free.
Hope this helps and good luck with the new machine.

E.,

Do not get a Kenmore HE2Plus front loader. I have had mine less that a year and absolutely hate it. It makes so much noise when it spins sometimes I think a freight train is going pass the house and I can't have anything on top of it, it shakes everything off. Also, front loaders have a much longer wash cycle than your top loaders do.

My grandmother in law bought us a Kenmore Elite King Size capacity with all kinds of cycles and electronic display, etc many years ago for Christmas (I think 2000). We bought it at the Sears Outlet center where they sell scratch & dent items, items that have been returned and repaired, etc. This washer has been the best EVER! I have only had to have it repaired one time in 2004 for a broken piece that kept the tub from spinning. It has been moved across the country and probably from house to house at least 6 times, possibly more. I have four boys and a husband, so it gets it's share of use. I love it, and wouldn't trade it for anything. I would DEFINITELY recommend a Kenmore Elite. They are the higher end of the Sears products, but so worth the money. It is a top loader and comes in three colors I think (white, black and bisque).

(PS - the dryer has NEVER had a problem!)

My family has always used Kenmore washers and dryers from Sears. In fact, the set I have now is 20 years old and we have not had any problems with them. I keep waiting for them to die so I have an excuse to get a front loading set of Kenmores.

I love my Kitchenaid top loader. I got it because it was insulated and quiet as our headboard was on the otherside of the wall. It has a stainless steel tub and always works great.
I am happy you wrote because I have coveted those fancy front loaders.

I have a Frigidaire Gallery front loader I bought in 1997 when it was the ONLY front loader made in this country and it is still going strong and I still love it. I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

Check out Costco's satisfaction gaurantee refund policy. Without having to purchase a warranty, you can feel good for years knowing if the washer goes out prematuralily, you can return it for cash back. I LOVE COSTCO!

we just bought the Fridgidaire gallery and did a lot of research and comparisons. We bought that particular one because it was ranked as one of Consumer reports best buys. We bought it from Lowes because they gave us next day delivery and we get a rebate that made delivery free. They will also match anyone elses price for up to 30 days so we took in the best buy ad that had 10% off all washer and dryers and they gave it to us! We had our washer in our house installed in about 12 hours from the time of purchase! We ended up spending less than $700 for a front load washer!
