Need a Doctor in Central Austin for Myself

We recently moved to Austin and I don't have a regular GP doctor to see myself. I'm currently 22 weeks pregnant and afraid that my cough is so bad I'm going to cough up my unborn child! I'd love any recommendations for friendly doc/staff in the central area, but I'm willing to drive anywhere at this point!

I spoke with the nurse at my OB's office (love my OB - Dr. Seeker) earlier this week and have been taking plain Robitussin, but it hasn't helped in the least. :-(

Thanks.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for the speedy responses! My OB called in some heavier duty cough meds for me, and I'm already feeling 100x better. I've begun calling some local doctors from your suggestions to get a new patient meeting/appointment. I may not need them immediately anymore, but it'll be good to have a GP/Internal Med doc for my husband and I.

Many thanks!
Jen

I really like Jefferson Street Family Practice, Dr. Theresa Pugh, on Medical Parkway and 40th St, 1101 W. 40th St, ###-###-#### is their phone #. They are a small office, pleasant, kind of old fashioned and it's never been crowded. I've been happy with them.

I have been happy with Dr. Stroud as a general GP. He is in South Austin at 4007 James Casey St. Suite C 120 . His telephone # is ###-###-####. He is also an internist and has some knowledge beyond some other general practitioners I have seen. He is not an alternative physician at all. I go to Dr. Phil Zbylot who is both an M.D. and a naturopath for alternative medicine advice. I hope these names help and you get some good advice. I have been very happy with these doctors after having some negative experiences with other general practitioners and gyncologists over the years. J. K

If you are looking for a OB then I highly recomend Dr. Rosa Moreno if you are looking for a physician then I really like Dr. Janet Jewell. The OB is off of 38th street and the other one is off of Far West and Mopac.

Hi J., Sorry you're experiencing such a bad cough, especially while you are pregnant!

I want to tell you about the health practitioner that I have come to love and trust. Her name is Barbara Christman and she is a Physician's Assistant, focusing on women's health. I've considered her my "Doctor" for the past 10 years. She provides all the services of a doctor essentially, with the added bonus of being "health oriented" rather than sickness diagnosing. Her approach is very holistic and gentle. One of my favorite things about Barbara is that she has her practice in a cottage/office on her property in Near South Austin (Zilker Park Area) and it's a peaceful welcoming environment. Not a sterile office building full of sick air and bright lights. She is my partner is staying healthy. I admire and respect her immensely and am proud to recommend her.

Hi J.-
Congratulations on your pregnancy! I go to Central Family Practice on 34th St, near Lamar. I also take my 8 month old son there, so it would be a place your whole family can go. They don't process insurance, so that is a disadvantage if you have it, but their prices are reasonable.
Good luck!

Dr. Gwen Miller in Pflugerville is great! She is off of Grand Avenue Parkway. I live in Round Rock, so I am not too far away. I also see Dr. Seeker...he and his staff are awesome! I would actually call Dr. Seeker back and tell them your cough is not better. I think another Dr. would tell you to call your OB.

Hope you feel better soon!
