Has anyone had any experience with having a natural (drug-free) delivery at Delnor Hospital in Geneva? Just curious as to what your experience may have been like. Who was your delivering Dr.?

What can I do next?

I can't give you advice about a natural birth (I wasn't that strong!), however, I can tell you that I had a perfect experience delivering at Delnor this past July. The nurses were phenomenal and helped me with anything I needed. I also felt that Delnor was so wonderful to visiting family and friends. My husband and I took quite a few classes at Delnor and felt that they were very beneficial. Check out Delnor's website if you are interested in any. Best of luck with your new arrival!

The nurses at Delnor at absolutely wonderful and very willing to help you have the birth you want. The key factor is your care provider. Write a birth plan (see birthplan.com for help) and have an open, honest discussion with your doctor/midwife. You will need his/her support to have a wonderful natural birth....And hire a doula :)

Hey K. T.-
I am planning on delivering at Delnor Hosp. in the next week or two (due 4/5). This is my first time, so I can't say that I have had the natural delivery- but I want to have one. My doctors are from Fox Valley Women's Health Partners (St. Charles and Aurora) and haven't been pushy about drugs or induction as of yet. The nurses at Delnor said that natural delivery is possible at Delnor (learned this in class there) and they offered all sorts of information. I am hoping that things will go smoothly- but of course don't know what to really expect.
I would recommend the docs at FVWHP, they are all women and all very personable in appts.
Good luck to you!
P.S. I live in Elgin too- near Lords Park- how about you?
Ali

I can't speak of the Hospital, but I gave birth to my son at home! Drug-Free! You are about to experience the strongest, most powerful experience of your life, that I believe you will NEVER regret! Prior to my experience, I used to say that my ablility to have children defined me as I women. Now, I say that my ablility to have a child has EMPOWERED me as a women! You are giving yourself, and your family a beautiful gift!

I hope I have encouraged you!

I could tell you about my experience at Copley Hospital in Aurora, but it may be farther than you want.

Hi,
I thought I would just respond because I am from the KC area also. I went to Aquinas and graduated in '95. I am a Labor and Delivery nurse at Provena Mercy. I do believe anywhere is a good place to have a drug free delivery. Go in with an open mind and enjoy your experience. The best of luck to you!
