Hi Moms..
My son is potty trained but I still use pullups at Daycare for naptime and home for night time. When did you all stop using them, or did you use them at all?
Thanks,
M.

If he is consistently dry when he wakes up, I would discontinue using them. But if he is usually wet when getting up, he should still be wearing them. My oldest was out of pull ups quickly, but with the youngest I think we will be in them for quite a while (she has only ever had two dry pull ups and that was at nap). Remember to make a big deal when he wakes up dry!!
Good luck!

My daughter was daytime potty trained by the time she was 2. We would use pull ups for nap and bedtime only. then around 2 1/2 we stopped using them at nap time but she continued to wet the bed every night. I was told to wait until they start waking up with a dry pullup and then you know they're ready to sleep in underwear. So when my daughter was 3 and still wetting the bed I started to get a little worried. So I told her she could wear underwear to bed if she could keep her pull up dry for a week. And she did. I think she was just ready. So after a week of waking every morning to a dry pull up we switched to underwear, it's been about 3 months and we haven't had an accident yet.

Hello M.,
As a Day Care provider and also being the mother and grandmother of several I thought to add my 2 cents.
See what you care provider feels and be sure to honor that. If a child stops weaing them and has several accidents then I frankly charge more for it. So ask them. I think that you wil know if he is ready when there are no accidents in the night and is dry in the mornings. I Have one little one that stays dry most of the time yet even when told to go potty if busy will forget and then wet while at play. I have to say that I don't like to see a child useing pull ups as a crutch but I can't see how some parents that must make a long commute home does it without them.

I used pull-ups *over* underwear for naps and outings when my girls were first potty trained (that way they have the feel of underwear but if they "oops" you have an easier clean-up ;-)). When the pull ups were consistently dry, I figured they were ready to stop using them. Good luck!

We used them until my son regularly woke up with a dry pull-up. He was excited to get rid of them, since we made a big deal of it, but every once in a while (particularly if we're traveling) he still asks to wear a pull-up at night (which, of course, we let him do)....

Hi M.,
I used diapers until the kids woke up consistently dry from a nap or overnight. I didn't do pullups - if they weren't going to get up and use the bathroom, it wasn't necessary for up/down diaper pants. If they were still wetting pretty regularly, diapering was just fine.

My daughter has been daytime potty trained since she was 2-1/2, but is almost 5 now and still wears a pull up to bed at night. She is a very deep sleeper and cannot stay dry. We used to try to encourage her to stay dry (get a special treat for 5 dry nights), but it just left her feeling discouraged, so we are just letting nature take its course. To make things more complicated, her younger sister (3 yrs) wears underwear at night and is dry.

we use them at night and naptimes too, until he stays dry consistently. we had gotten off them and he was staying dry all the time, but then we moved and he started preschool and he has regressed. whenever he starts staying dry at night again......
