So What Happened?

Unimportant anecdote (lol): I grew up with a good friend named Cassandra... we lost touch as adults, but spent a lot of time together as kids... incidentally, she went by "Cassie," but pronounced it like Casey. Yes, it was confusing if you didn't know her. We'd stick with Cassie with a short a.

Cassandra (Cassie) L. is my favorite.

I don't think Eden Katherine flows very well, but I do think Eden Kate sounds good. I still like Cassie more though. : )

Without knowing your last name, I would go with Eden Katherine-it has a modern but classic feel. I LOVE it! Katrina would be my second choice. By the way, I swear it doesn't matter what we name our kids-other kids and people will find a way to make fun of it or shorten it and give them nicknames-drives me nuts...just the way life is I guess. It is hard, but it's your child and they will have this name for all of their lives and that's what I always kept in mind. All the best with deciding...

Eden Katherine all the way! You're still incorporating the family name (although not your name), and Eden is a beautiful name!!

Katrine reminds me of the hurricane, and Cassandra L. makes me think Sandra L., and not in a good way, LOL...

Eden's really pretty, biblical, I love it paired with Katherine...

If I could tweak the first two options just slightly, I'd recommend Cassia L. or Katarina L. (Katarina has 4 syllables, Katrina has 3). I prefer Cassia to Cassandra just because it sounds slightly fresher (I know quite a few Cassandras from my own generation). And I prefer Katarina because it's like Katrina -- but without the hurricane association. They're all beautiful names, though; congrats on your baby girl!

LOVE the name Eden. What about Eden L.? We spent $20 on a name book and went through so many names only to come up with one that we did't even get from the book! Our sons name is Grady. I had never heard it as a first name before...after he was born I learned there is a baseball player and a character on a tv show named Grady! LOL Good luck!!

I vote Eden Katherine.

Mainly because my son's school is filled with Cassies (super cute though!) and (less in number) Katrinas (also super cute!).

A friend just named her daughter Cascie, which I think is going to cause confusion down the road b/c of the spelling.

Cassandra or Eden. People wont' call Cassandra "Mama Cass" as someone said, because that predates even our own generation and kids definitely won't know that reference. But people will remember Hurricane Katrina much longer, and it's not a happy memory. Cassandra can call herself the full name, Cassie, Cass or even Sandra or Sandy if she likes. Eden is pretty also - unusual but not so unusual that it gets attention just for that reason. And thank you for using normal spellings for all these names!! Your child will thank you too!

I like Cassandra L. - people will call her Mama Cass, though.

Katrina will always have the remembrance of the hurricane, though it is a lovely name.

You'll have people tease about the garden of Eden.

How about Katherine L.? (You'll get Katie, Kat, Kathy...)

Yes it IS hard! Smiles!

If I had to pick between the ones you posted, I would go with Eden Katherine. But, I love girl names and since I have 3 boys and no chance of any more babies, i'll throw in a few of my own.

Evelyn L. (you could call her Evie)
Ariana L.
Ariadne L.

ETA: I also love the name Ava as another mom suggested

I love all of your choices, they are all great! It is so hard to choose a name. I found that names I liked while pregnant were not names I was fond of post pregnancy. My husband reminded me of this while on the name search. Keep that in mind.
My vote would be
Eden Katherine
Katrina L.
Cassandra L.

I love Katrina L.!
Nicknames can be Kat or even Rina.
Any name can be a hurricane name (except maybe towards the end of the alphabet - there are rarely so many named storms in a season that they make it past the middle) and in 5, 10, 15 years few are going to associate the name with a hurricane - people forget.
