hello fellow mommies,
I am in the last month of my pregnancy, i never feel good anymore, but lately i have this really horrible jaunting pain. It feels like somebody stabs or cuts with scissors quite abruptly and without rhyme or reason--the ligament that connects my inner thighs to my vaginal area. I will be walking and the sensation almost takes me to the ground, its very scary and seems to only be increasing in severity the closer i get to delivery.I've been all over the internet looking for answers to no avail.....help.

What can I do next?

I am dealing with the exact same pain now (i'm also in my last month). I had it with my last two pregnancies as well. It is normal, and it will go away after you have the baby, BUT if you want it fixed now, or atleast the pain eased quite a bit, you should go to a chiropractor. Your pain is actually pinched nerves from your pelvic bone moving and stretching to make room for your growing baby. Once I went to the chiropractor, I noticed an immediate difference - an adjustment will do wonders and it is completely safe to do while pregnant.
I know it is really painful, and I hope you can get it fixed or have your baby really soon!
(just FYI - round ligament pain and placenta detachment you will feel in your abdomen area, even really low, but not in your pubic area and inner thigh)

No guarantees, but this sounds like round ligament pain. The round ligaments run from the side of the uterus to the lower pelvis. Strain on this ligament causes "knife-like" pains in the area where the leg attaches to the body. It tends to get worse as pregnancy progresses because the uterus, as it grows, places more stress on the ligament. The natural reaction to raise the knee toward the chest is usually enough to get this spasm to subside.

Sorry this is wordy, but sometimes it just helps to hear WHY something is going on, not just that it is normal.

Hi! Well, first you should talk to your OB or midwife. But it could be just strain on that ligament. I had horrible sharp pains like that with both of my pregnancies, kind of in the same area, and we (my husband and I) decided it must be ligament strain from a quick change of position (my belly was very large, because my babies were both 9+ pounds, and I was ALL out front). The pains always went away within a few minutes. But definitely check w/your doc, maybe you can take some medicine for pain.
Hope that helps,
A.

Hi! I used to get the same pain during all 3 pregnancies. The bigger I got, the more it hurt. My doctor always told me it was normal. That it was just the ligaments in my leg. It'll go away after your baby is born. Good luck!

Hi, I just wanted to echo what the other responders have said. I also had similar sharp pains toward the end of all three of my pregnancies. Definitely give your doctor a call to be sure, but I think it is probably normal and you and your baby are going to be fine.

This sounds serious. Do you have an OB? You need to talk to him/her about it TODAY. Don't delay. Sometimes, a separation of the placenta can feel like that, and that is life-threatening to the baby. I don't mean to frighten you, but things like this need to be discussed with a doctor, not with someone on the internet.

Hi, I would ask your OB/GYN just to be sure everything is ok, but I have 4 kids and had similar pains during my second and third pregnancies. It was awful! My doctor said it was common and not to worry. I delivered healthy babies. Good luck!
