He's also allergic to Neutrogena. What else can I use for him?

He's allergic to the skin so soft bug repellent stuff so I am assuming he might be to the sunscreen as well

What can I do next?

hi there,
My son is allergic to almost every type of "hypoallergenic" sunblocks. he breaks out in a rash all over his body. the only thing i have found that works well is a cheaper sunblock called baby blanket- titanium dioxide formula. it's for sensitive skin and waterproof and it really works well. you can find it at all the drug stores for less than 10 dollars. big pink tube- you can't miss it. My sister just started using it on her kids too. hope this helps! -M.

most likely he is allergic to one of the ingredients. a lot of kids are allergic to coconut which is in a lot of sunscreens. ask your pedi about it.

My 2.5 year old has so many allergies I have not been able to keep up. But I did find out about a company Arbonne, they make all sorts of products for men, women, and all ages. I started buying their baby line and believe it or not my little guy has had no problems. This is because all there products are made of veggies and all nature ingredients! I got so addicted to all their products my mother decided to become a consultant for them! Let me know if I can have her answer you any questions she could even possibly send you some samples.

Oh and best yet they have a line of products all for use in the sun! I highly recommend trying there stuff, for you and your son!

I'm allergic to "sunblock" itself. Perhaps your son is too? It took the Dermatologist a while to figure this out. I burn when I wear block, my skin breaks out in hives, and I itch. Does this sound familiar?

Aveeno products are great for sensitive skin.

Both of my kids break out from sunscreen. I started using Aveeno this year (the spray) and no rashes! I use the NO AD stick on their faces and no rashes with that either.

My son was allergic and would get a thick ichy rash. I found he was fine with NO-AD and Ocean Potion. This year he has finally grown out of the problem.

Here's a great site that give you a rating for personal care products and also gives you a list of ingredients. the ratings can be done in several ways, but for this discussion since you are looking for something safe and obviously hypo-allergenic for your son, I would strongly recommend anything listed with a score of 1. Number 1 is Keys Soap Solar RX Sunblock and #2 is the Therapeutic Sunblock. The only real concern for you in it might be the Avocado oil.

<http://www.cosmeticdatabase.com/browse.php?category=sunsc...;

I did a search for some of the recommendations and some were on the list and some weren't. Arbonne was not rated. The after sun lotion and the tanless cream were, but not the sunscreen.

Badger SPF 30 looks like a good choice as does California Baby SPF 30+ Sunblock Stick No Fragrance and California Baby SPF 30+ Sunblock Stick Everyday/Year-Round.

Hoping you find what you need.

Blessings,

My daughter was also allergic to every sunscreen that was on the market (we're talking 1996). Luckily for you, there are a lot more options now. You can try your local natural food store (most will have organic or natural bath and body products) or do a search online. I found this link: http://www.katescaringgifts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Sc.... Their base is zinc though, so if that's the problem, it's no help.

Since I live in a small town, the only option that I found (remember, before the internet was popular) was to dress her in long sleeved white or light colored clothes, keep a floppy hat on her head, and keep her out of the sun as much as possible.

Hope you find something useful... Good Luck!

Hi J.!
I recommend Arbonne's Baby Care Sunscreen. It's awesome, we never reapply, and my daughter has sensitive skin as well. When she was younger she was allergic to what seemed like everything!! She's not a baby anymore (almost 7!), but we still love the baby line!
Arbonne's products are PURE (made from the finest ingredients), SAFE (you don't have to worry if it gets in eyes or mouths!), and BENEFICIAL (because they really work!)
Message me if you want more info.
Good luck, and have a great summer!

Try non-chemical sunscreens. They only contain titanium dioxide and zinc oxide as the active ingredients, and they can't be absorbed by the skin, so you can't be allergic to them. I'd look at your natural food store. They're hard to rub in, but they work just fine. Also you could try the fabric treatment that provides an additional sun-protection factor (I don't know what the product name is, but I think you can find it at Target and places like that, near the dye).

My kids have problems with sunscreens too. We've found that Ocean Potion works really well and doesn't cause problems. Also, Arbonne has a nice sunscreen. There are also speciality ones that you can get from the doctor. (My Mom works for an allergist and gets samples all the time). I can't for the life of me remember the name of it though, but I bet if you call up an allergist and ask what they recommend, they could help you!

Good luck!

I haven't tried this on my sons just yet but we do use the Mustela baby wash/shampoo and lotions on my children as they have highly sensitive skin. They do make a sunblock. My pediatrician actually recommended the line to us when my son broke out in eczema all over and all the lotions on the market were just aggravating it. Here is a link when I searched for it.

http://www.thecureshop.com/Shop.asp?s=&View=Item&...

I find most of the products at Babies R Us but I have yet to see the sunblock. (they might start carrying it though because it is the summer). I do know that you can find it online at Babies R Us online and Amazon I think as well.

HTH!

Try baby lizard (CVS sells it) it used to be sold only by dermatologists and it only has 2 ingredients, Zinc and Titanium oxide. A pediatric dermatologist told me to use it on my son and it is wonderful!
