my 3 year old pushed my 2 year old into the coffee table and he started screaming crying and there was blood all over and I cleaned it up and just noticed today that he's got a little bruise above his tooth and my husband said it feels like his tooth is loose although I'm not feeling that but is there anything I could or should do??? I don't want his tooth to fall out he is only 2 years old!!!
Get him to the dentisit. I may well bne loose and nothing to really worry about but I had this happen to a child I was watching and even though the mother thought it was no big deal. I insisted he be taken. The dr sad as he aged he would need braces and they had to remove the tooth.

My daughter fell and bruised her front tooth at the age of 3. I took her to the dentist and they said it just looked bruised and should be fine. I was still nervous because her tooth was completely discolored. Her tooth is still a little discolored at age 5 but it is still there. I had to "baby" her tooth for a while.....told her to chew on the other side, made sure her food was cut into bite-size pieces, and brush her teeth gently. Be sure to keep the injured tooth clean. Hi, Maria! The same thing happened to my son at 15 months. I was scared to death! They did nothing for it, there was a bruise on his gum. Eventually, the tooth started to turn a gray color, and was like that until he lost it several years later. We never had a problem with it, except for the discoloration. I would call your dentist to be sure, but I doubt they will do anything about it. Best of luck!
Maria, My son knocked his tooth completely out at about three, and there was not much that could be done, per the dentist. She said that his permenant tooth would grow in when he was six. So he walked around for three years with a missing front tooth. Not comforting, I know. However I can assure you that if it did fall out (which I doubt). It'll grow back. My son's did. On a brighter note, my daughter (9 years old) knocked her front teeth, last week, and it was bleeding and loose. We took her to the dentist, the next morning, and it was xrayed. It was fine. The dentist advised that she should try not to bit anything solid with those teeth for 3 weeks so that it can reseat itself. So avoid giving him things that he can bite with front teeth for the three weeks. Try soft food, and he should be fine.
call the dentist and get him in and get him seen.
Just leave it be. It may discolor for awhile but it will be fine. My 3 year old did the SAME thing...Kids!!!
First, I'm shocked at all the different responses.
My dd did the exact same thing at 3..fell off the couch face first into the coffee table. I took her to our dentist who wouldn't even X-ray her saying it was just slightly bruised and leave it be. Well, that wasn't good enough for me..it was getting looser and darker so I wanted a 2nd opinion. I took her to a PEDIATRIC dentist and he X-rayed her as soon as we walked in. She had fractured the took all the way into the gum and it had to be pulled. He said had my dentist X-rayed her and saw this, they could have saved it by doing a pulpectomy..but since some time had passed, it was too damaged. So she went from 3 till almost 7 missing her front tooth.
Fast forward 6 months when she was 3 1/2, she was hit in the face with a swing and did it again! This was Easter morning so nothing I could do. Monday morning I went RIGHT to the pediatric dentist and since it had just happened, he was able to save the 2nd front tooth with the pulpectomy. I did not want my little girl to be missing both her front teeth at such a young age. It tightened back really fast.
BEST thing is to get him to a PEDIATRIC dentist ASAP and request an X-ray to determine how much damage if any there was and go from there.

This happened to my daughter recently. She is 4. Her tooth was loose then it looked like it was gray. When my husband was younger he smashed his face on the curb and killed all of his teeth. I was worried that the same thing would happen to her.
I ended up taking her to the dentist and he told me that sometimes the tooth can seem loose but it will not fall out. Also, it may look gray because it bleeds inside, almost like a bruise. The only time you need to worry about it (according to my dentist) is if he's got an abscess above the tooth on his gums.
I am sure that he is fine, but if you are worried you could always take him to the dentist for peace of mind ;)
That's a hard hit! Wow! On the plus side though, the gums & everything SHOULD tighten back up around the tooth if it is a little loose & it shouldn't go anywhere. The bruise, however, may not go away. Just depends. Good luck!
Call a good pediatric dentist. We had the same problem with our 2 year old last year, and our 1 year old this year. They will monitor and make suggestions on what to do.

make sure you bring him to a dentist to get the tooth x-rayed. Then the dentist would be able to tell what happened inside the gum. Good luck!
A friend of mine's 3 year old knocked out his front two teeth when he fell at a splash park. It just takes a long time for them to come in, that's all. My 7 year old just lost her first front top tooth, so I would think it may be until he's that age before his two grow back in....
