I have a miniature poodle that is 11 months and i have started to realize that she has the most discusting breath that i have ever smelled. its been like this for awhile now..... maybe this makes since, but her breath smells like she is dead.... there arent any signs that anything is wring with her and she doesnt go outside that much, so i know its not what she is eating......
am i the only one who has a dog like this? i love her to peices but i cant even stand to hold because it stinks...... ANY suggestions or advic???? THANKS BUNCHES

Do you brush her teeth on a regular basis? If you do this and its still gross, she may have an infected tooth-- I would call the vet and see what they say. GL

First avoid the greenies...yes lots of people say they are great but they actually aren't good for your dog at all.
Second she needs her teeth checked and you should look into changing her food and make sure she is drinking enough.
I have a poodle mix along with are three larger babies(Great Dane,English mastiff and basset hound). I have never brushed any of their teeth and their vet is amazed by that but I have to say it is all thanks to their food. They are on the raw diet. I don't feed kibble or even canned food. They all eat various meats and yes that includes bones, and certain veggies and a few other meat related items. Their breath is not an issue. But I will say before we went with a raw diet a few years ago I could have told a different story. Our basset had horrid breath and bad teeth. Now our vet swears we started brushing her teeth and taking her to another vet to have work done. We never did it was a total diet changed that fixed the breath and teeth.
She may have an abcessed baby tooth. Poodles are notorious for their adult K-9 teeth to come in without the baby tooth coming out. Have your vet take a peek. She may need some teeth pulled.
Does she eat her poop? It's a serious question, lots of dogs do it, my dog does on occasion. If so, that could be part of the problem. Also, take a look at her teeth. Maybe she needs to have her teeth cleaned. They also sell doggie supplements that are supposed to help with fresh breath.
two suggestions - both involve the vet - Have her mouth examined for potential debris lodged against roof of mouth between teeth - I have a dog who chews twigs, and she got a piece jammed across the roof of her mouth - and Oh, Lordy what stinky breath- the other option is to have the dog's teeth cleaned (this generally involves a general anaesthesia and they get the teeth clean and if there is an underlying problem can tell you along with how to treat it.
At the very least, use doggy toothpaste and a doggy toothbrush and brush her teeth regularly.
I'd suggest a visit to the vet. My first thought would be that she needs her teeth cleaned desperately, but she's such a young dog that really her mouth shouldn't stink that much at this point.
You need to check her teeth and gums often. Often time with breeds like that they get hair wrapped around the teeth at the base of the gums. It can work under tham and just turn awful. She may also have baby teeth that did not come out.
Her food may not agree with her. I'd try a different brand of food. I'd also use dry food rather than wet and give her chewies everyday.
Your dog may have dental problems. A good vet can help you with that. Your groomer should be able to help, too. Also I've seen doggie breath mints in places like PetSmart or Petco. Hope this helps.
Little dogs generally have really gross mouths and teeth.
What do you feed her? Because if it's wet food, then you need to stop that. You also should brush her teeth and get her into the vet for a cleaning as soon as possible. She could have an abscess, like the other moms suggested.
But in my experience, little dogs need their teeth cleaned about once a year otherwise you're gonna have problems like this. It's just the nature of little dogs.
She could have a rotting, infected or impacted tooth. SO a trip to the vet may be in order.
I would be sure to give her good oral hygiene, (they sell dog toothpaste/brushes) at pet stores and lots of Greenies to chew on. It will freshen her breath and help keep her teeth clean. Also, dry dog food is better for dental care than wet/semi-moist.
11 months is pretty young - i remember my dog had good breath when we got her at 3 or 4 months old and then as she aged, the breath went downhill. lol. do you brush her teeth regularly? i would invest in a good toothbrush and toothpaste (for dogs) and brush every night. plus, get greenies which are chewable treats taht reduce plaque and freshen breath. if none of those work, i'd go to the vet to make sure everything's ok.
small dogs are notorious for bad breath! you have to watch them very close and check their teeth often however 11 months sounds way to early to have any issues like that, i would take her to the vet and have them looks at her. Ive had a few dogs like that and i hate it b/c i just want to love on them and they stink!! good luck
