My question is this...I am going to be going out and visiting with them for about a week at a time..seeing that I am in TX and they are VA ! I need some great ideas to help me get to know them and them get to know me again !! It has been along time. Please help I am kinda scared at the same time that thye may not like me. What do I do????

What can I do next?

wow, that is a really tough one, you may write them each a letter and/or communicate via email if that's possible. Tell them about yourself and ask them to do the same, Prior to y'all meeting, this could help ease the awarkwardness...mail or email photos, ask what their favorite things are, activities, books, etc and tell them all about you. Good Luck!

A picture says a thousand words. Take along photos from your life and share your life story through pictures with your daughters, maybe they can do the same. Pictures and photos are great conversation starters.

Maybe write them a letter or e-mail (letters are more personal though). Ask them what they would want/expect/hope for in the visits and relationship. Ask them there favorite activities. Maybe something they would like you to do with them. May God bless your visits and relationship.

Hopefully, they are big readers. Reading is a great way to get to know people and create a bridge to conversation. So ask them what they're favorite books are from the past few years and what they're reading now and read them! Maybe share a book you liked with them. If you have one.

Books are much more intimate and personal than movies, the characters are so much more developed. But if they aren't readers, ask about their favorite movies or tv shows and watch those.

I read my daughters books and sometimes they read mine. Last year they told me about the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer and I loved reading it and it gave us plenty to talk about.

I have some great tools through my business very inexpensive that might help. One is a story of my lfe booklets, you can give your insights on several values (there is questions), also you could write them a letter, include pictures or stories about when you had them. I do many home workshops on "building strong family bonds"
one letter can fill in the gaps when you weren't with them.
I have some that age and they might want them now but it will be REAL important later. I just inherited a 11 (a cousin, I had never met) who is 11 so I can certainly sympathize. My website is www.strongcaringfamilies.com and my number is ###-###-#### if you would like to talk, I would love to listen.
