Both my 7 yr old son and my 14 month old son are head sweaters...as is my husband. I think it just runs in the family.

My son would sweat because of the vinyl mattress cover. I ended up having to get a cloth mattress cover to avoid all of the sweating.

My daughter sweats like crazy too! Its because they cant regulate their body temp. like we can, so they sweat alot more! just dress her in lighter clothing and dont cover her with blankets. As everyone said too, make sure the sheets shes sleeping on are breathable and light!

My baby boy is starting to sweat a lot too. I live in Los Angeles, and it's now starting to wet hot, but not enough to turn the air conditioner. I had thought about why he would get so sweaty, and I concluded that it was the fitted sheet that is leak proofed and has a vinyl backing. The crib mattress also has a vinyl cover too. I changed the fitted sheets to all cotton with no vinyl backing and this has helped a lot. I am sure that I will end up buying another mattress that doesn't have the vinyl cover as the summer kicks in. Since this is my first child I thought that it was a good idea to buy leak proof mattress and sheets, but apparently it's not a good idea due lack of air circulation. Try this and see if it works for your baby, if not, call the doctor.

My daughter (2yo) wakes up all sweaty sometimes even when it doesn't seem that hot. My husband can be the same way, when he's in the bed I feel like its way hotter and can't even have the covers on, he makes me sweat too (not always in a good way haha). When he's not in bed I'm shivering. I think some people just have higher body temps when asleep.

My son is the SAME way! He sweats like me and my father do when he sleeps. I have started putting him in no socks and short sleeves and pants to sleep in where as my daughter was ALWAYS in footie long sleeved pjs (even in the summer) because of the AC! He does not sweat as bad by doing that. He also sweats at daycare like a hog when he sleeps even when he's just in a onsie so I think it's just his body type!

My 8 and 1/2 month old also sweats when he sleeps. We keep our air at 73, so it is cool in our house. I've thought he had leaked through his diaper once, but it was just sweat.

All 4 of my children do that and so does their Dad. ANY time and under any circumstance they sweat like crazy just as soon as they fall asleep. For them it is not just their hair that gets all wet but you can tell where they have been laying because there will be a wet spot.

My son does this. It is very difficult for me to judge whether his room is too hot or too cold because even when I think it's cold, he sweats. :-( No solutions, but I feel your pain.

Ditto the answer re: vinyl mattress covers. It is not breathable fabric, so a lot of heat gets trapped.

My daughter is the same way! She's almost 4 now but she's done this her whole life! I had read before she was born that sweating while nursing (or taking a bottle) and sleeping could mean they have heart problems so I was completely freaked out when my daughter sweat so much but I had the dr check her heart at every appt extra close and shes just fine. I am only saying that so if you wanted to bring it up to the doc you can... I don't want to scare you because like my daughter I'm sure she's just fine but it made me feel better that the dr was paying closer attention to it. :o)
