Does anyone own and have any opinion on this wrap?

Or is there a simple wrap out there that you like? I basically want to strap my newborn on securely while I run after my toddler. :)

I love My Baby Nest! There is no extra material to be bothered with for quick trips in and out of the store (nothing to drag on the ground while you are putting it on) and its compact. I actually found mine on Ebay for half that price and they are also cheaper on the My Baby Nest website, itself.
I also have a Moby, a sling and a Ergo and I much preferred the Nest for the first six months and then I moved onto my sling which was better for my VERY large son (he was 9.11 at birth!)

I've tried 10 or so different carriers & our favorite is the Baby Ktan. It is very similar to that one

Hi, S.!

Now, I'm pretty biased, but what from what I've heard, the "wrap" style carriers are great with newborns (once you figure them out) but not that great w/ older, heavier ones. They can be cumbersome, complicated, bulky and very difficult to put on quickly.

After trying several different brands & styles of many different baby carriers, my favorite is still a ring sling. Now, as I said, I am biased, because I also own a small WAHM business called THING-A-MA-SLING Custom-Created Baby Slings. I make slings that hold babies from birth to about 35 lbs. They honestly are SO easy to use! I used mine with my son from the day he was born & still use it on occasion with my daughter, who will be 6 next month!

I do give a 15% discount for Mamasourcer's--you just put in coupon code "mamasource" during checkout. I try to keep a wide variety of materials & prints in stock too.

Plus all of them (except Solarveil) come with 3 built-in pockets, so there's plenty of room for wallet, keys, sunglasses, etc... And they start at UNDER $40 & come with a full color instruction booklet that will fit right in one of the pockets!

Let me know if you have any questions at all!
Congratulations again!

Baby carriers fit everyone differently, so I highly suggest you either buy something you can return, or ask your friends to borrow theirs for a few hours.

A friend made me a lovely wrap, but it just didn't work for me and my daughter, so I gave up immediately. My husband stumbled on his old carrier that his mom used and loved it, and when we were gifted with a baby backpack, he was able to adjust it to fit him (great for hiking), but I couldn't get it to work for me.

I gave up, then another friend visited and brought no less than 4 slings/wraps with her! I tried two of them, and fell in LOVE with the Ergo Baby as it just felt like it fit from the moment I put it on (even before we adjusted it for me). My daughter was 18 months by then, and it held her securely during a tantrum, so I was sold! I used it until she was about 28 lbs. or so, then stopped due to my doctor's suggestion (pulled a muscle!). But if we are lucky enough to have another child, I will go back and get the infant insert for my Ergo Baby!

BUT, I'm not advertising for them - the story I'm telling you is that you have to find what works for YOU. Test a few out, and not just for 30 seconds in a store. GOOD LUCK!

I am interested in getting a moby. Its been around a bit longer and is actually cheaper. A friend of mine had one and its looks a bit more secure than this one.

That looks like an expensive version of the moby wrap. The moby is (was when I bought it) only $40. Its easy to wrap (even though it doesn't look it), but it does take about a minute to wrap yourself up. I have found it to be INCREDIBLY useful. B.c you wrap it yourself, its completely & easily adjustable. You can use it as soon as you give birth and it will fit you just as nicely 9months later too. I have a BIG baby 17lbs at 4 months & last week (on vacation in the mountains) I would wear him for HOURS and neither of us were uncomfortable. (It was the only way he would nap while we were there). It is also VERY secure. I have no problem bending over with him in it. I don't have to worry about him falling out. And it is truly hands free. (With my sling I always felt I had to hold my first son in place or he would fall out. I stopped using it after a few tries.) Finally the moby is very versatile. You can wrap it different ways & put the baby in it in different ways too. You get a lot of bang for your buck.
I don't know anything about the carrier you selected from walmart, but the good thing about walmart is that they let you return everything. So, you could try it & return it if it doesn't work for you. ONE more thing. Make sure its machine washable. My son has spit up & drooled on my wrap more times than I can count & its all washed out. Also, if you plan to use it outside at all, make sure you get a light color, or you and the baby will get too hot.
Good luck.

I have a Moby wrap that looks similar, I LOVE it! So easy to put on, no buckles, etc and my sweet baby loves it. Comparing it to my sling and another carrier I have, I find it to be the most comfortable for the longest amount of time.

I have a similar one which is called the Moby Wrap that I bought new off of Ebay. I was less than $50 and I love it. I bought it because a while back a mom on Mamasource asked what wrap to buy and the Moby was the overwhelming recommendation by moms.
It is a long piece of fabric that can be worn many different ways as your baby grows. It come with an instruct book but I suggest you go to youtube.com and type in Moby Wrap. You can see a video on how to put it on.
Best of luck!

I'm OBVIOUSLY biased, and I'll be honest that I haven't done much business since I moved here from out of state last fall, but I LOVE the ring slings so much that I started making them when I was a single, unemployed mom. Let me know if you're interested in talking shop. There are LOTS of options out there, but I will tell you that I used my slings with my newborn and STILL use it on occasion for carrying, strapping and cuddling with my almost 3 year old.

I love all my baby carriers :-) My friend made my wrap - much like the moby or hte one you have listed above at walmart. here is a great site and a hell of a lot cheaper than $80. http://www.wearyourbaby.com/Default.aspx?tabid=121
I do have to say that i favor a sling once the little one is a bit older and can hold his head up. My favorite is http://www.kangarookorner.com/c-8-adjustable-pouches.aspx this is my second child that i'm using my sling with and LOVE it!

I normally use the wrap for extended periods outside (hikes/walking/grocery shopping) and the sling for quick in and out trips as it is easier to use.

Best of Luck

I have a 4 month old and almost 3 year old. I have used several wraps/slings since my daughter was born, but find a ring sling (Maya wrap or similar) to be the easiest and quickest to get the baby in and out of. It is very secure and I've been able to chase my son everywhere. Maya wraps and other ring slings are available online (mayawrap.com and sleepingbabyproductions.net) or at Becoming Mommy in Squirrel Hill. They do take a little bit of practice, but it is really wonderful and very versatile! I even had my husband carry the baby one day and put my 3-year-old in the sling because he wasn't feeling well.

Hi S.,

If you're still planning on coming to the Tuesday meeting of Pittsburgh Babywearers, there's a Moby and a Sleepy Wrap in the lending library if you're interested. There are also a few woven wraps in there as well.

For everyone else: Pittsburgh Babywearers is a local group that meets twice a month to teach parents how to use different baby carriers and (by extension) bond with their baby. There's lots more information on the website at www.pittsburghbabywearers.com as well as on the yahoo group (linked on the website).

I have a sling that my sis made for me out of 3 yards of fabric and 2 rings. I think she said that it cost her about $5, but I did have trouble figuring it out when my son was first born. He is 9 months old now, and I have used it almost every day since he was about 3 months old.

I have also heard great things about the Moby and Myah(sp) wraps, and have even seen pics of a 7 year old wrapped with a Moby (google it, it is really funny looking), so I know they do work as the baby gets older too.
