So What Happened?

no, it's not 20 diapers, it's nappies, I change around 6 diapers per day. She is drinking about 22 oz milk daily. 5 oz each, from few days, she drinks first two oz and then refuse the rest, anyhow I manage to give her around 22 oz. She used to drink around 32 oz before. Doctor said as long as wight is ok, no need to worry. Her sleeping pattern is ok. Sometimes she is laughing, playing. but not like earlier, now she is fuzzing around most of the time. I feel like that she doesn't like the taste of the milk product anymore, and making moaning type of sounds to make us do what she wants. When carry her and walk she stops that sound. If she is ill, I don't think she will stop it when carrying.

Doctor gave her medicine for Acid reflux, now she is ok, not crying, but still don't like to drink much milk
Anyways..thanks guys for your ideas, it helped a lot.

Hi S.!
You must take your baby to the doctor as soon as possible. Babies at 4 months do not moan to get their parents to do what they want. They cry and fuss out of necessity.

For Lisa F. I recommend that you read mamasources rules of internet ettiquite. Even urgent messages can be conveyed in a respectful manner!

Urinating 20 times a day at 4.5 months falls within the range of normal--especially if you are using diapers full-time. Babies at that age will release their urine in small amounts if they are not given the opportunity to relieve themselves away from their body (ie in the potty/toilet). Often they will go in little spurts, because their bladders are small and in some cases, they do not want to get themselves wet, so let out as little as possible to relieve the pressure. My daughter would not fully relieve herself in a diaper, she would always stop right after she started--on of the major reasons we did EC (elimination communication) with her. If we put her on the potty she'd pee till empty and be dry for a couple of hours, otherwise, she'd pee every 15-20 minutes :-/

More than 2-3 times an hour all day long is a sign something may be wrong though, so don't totally discount your baby's urination patterns--in this case look for UTI, yeast, food/chemical/environmental intolerance, constipation or genital irritation.

"When carry her and walk she stops that sound. If she is ill, I don't think she will stop it when carrying."

If your child is having stomach trouble, it is very likely that she will stop "moaning" when she is carried. The change in position and the warmth of body-to-body contact will comfort her. Definitely go speak with your doctor about the moaning and what may be bothering her.

S., I have to agree with the other poster. You've posted two separate things, first about whether moaning and not drinking are signs of teething, and now saying that your baby is peeing too much. Moaning is NOT a sign of teething, it's a sign of discomfort or illness. Being lethargic, not wanting to eat/drink are also signs of illness. Excessive urination can be a sign of certain illnesses. You need to contact the baby's doctor.

You should check with a pediatrician right away. Your baby may be perfectly fine, but if there is a reason she is urinating so often, it's important to know. Wishing you and your daughter all the best.

Hi S.,

I agree with Anna Marie 100% and also agree with the purpose of this forum. We are not here to judge, yell at, or insult, we are here to help each other out. That being said I do think something else could be going on with your baby. Babies will not moan at 4 months old to manipulate you they will do it because they need something. Either her belly is bothering her or something else is going on. She could have acid reflux and that can be very painful and make a baby uncomfortable. Most times medication can work or a simple formula change. Is she moving her bowels? I would have the doc take another look so you can put your mind at ease and also help your baby to feel better. Good

I would agree with all the other posters here, however no one has mentioned, how wet are her diapers? Is she soaking 20 diapers a day? If she is just peeing often but not soaking a diaper it may be nothing. Babies don't wait until they have alot of pee to let it go, they just do it little bits at a time. However if she is wetting more diapers than she did before in a 24 hour period coupled with the not drinking much, go to the doctor.

It's possible she has a UTI. A trip to your Dr. will confirm and offer her some relief if so. Definitely not something to mess with.

think about how mych you are feeind her liquids. also, how could you tell, do you change her diaper that often? that seems like way too often. if it's just a bit wet, i never heard of changing. why not ask baby's doctor.

i agree with Lisa F.... If she's not drinking and she's urinating a lot, you better get her to a doctor.

Also, how do you know she's urinating 20 times a day? I changed my kids' diapers a few times a day, but I couldn't tell how many times they actually went...

Dear S.,

I am just responding to the information in your "So, what happened?" Any time you notice a significant change in your baby's mood, it's a good idea to check in with your pediatrician. This doesn't sound like anything serious, so please don't worry, but she could be having a lower-level problem, like not being able to digest her formula well. The doctor may be able to help pinpoint that, and rule out anything serious.

Hope this helps,

Mira
