Hi moms,
My little girl's hands are quite often hot to the touch. I've checked her temp and sometimes it's normal and sometimes it a low grade fever 99.1 to 99.5. My ped has tested her for everythnig; mono, lime disease and all other disorders that would cause a fever and she complains that she has a headache often. All blood work came back normal. Is this something to worry about. Something the doc is missing or just simple high skin temp ( nurse had suggested this). She doesn't act any different when she is warm. She still is non-ending ball of energy. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks H.

I'm kind of floored that your pedi ran all those tests on a child with warm skin, no fever, and a headache. No wonder medical care is so expensive in this country...

(I'm also floored that any doctor would consider 99.5 a fever. That really has me shaking my head)

My 4yo has been the same way from birth. She just feels hot all the time... But has no fever, and no symptoms of being sick at all.

I don't worry about it. She is active, happy, and developing normally. I just take her temperature a lot more often than what would be normal, because I will feel her and think she HAS to have a fever... Only to be at. Normal temp. Lol

Welcome to my life. I honestly have not worn a coat in many, many years,. Heck I can wear open toes shoes almost all year long.

I sleep with 2 fans.. I have ALWAYS been like this.

My family calls me a "Furnace"..
It is just who we are. I am addicted to ice and super cold water.

Did they check her thyroid?
Hyperthyroidism can sometimes elevate your body temp a bit.
Also, 98.6 might be normal for most people but some people just naturally run a little warmer (or even a little cooler) - it's possible that 99.1 might be normal for her.
Do a headache diary - when she gets them, where, when, how long they last, what did she eat/drink, is the weather changing (temp, air pressure).
Eventually you might be able to find a pattern to what triggers them.
She might be sensitive to MSG or caffeine or something else.

Some people are warmer then others. She sounds just fine. That is probably a normal temp, for her. Stop taking her temp and just accept that she is a warmer person.

sounds like a low grade skin allergy, some allergies are so mild that they dont cause the usual sniffling and sneezing that are the calling card of most allergies..change the detergent and fabric softener and dryer sheets you use on the childs clothes first, then watch and wait six weeks, if you notice a change in the childs skin temperature and headaches, then you know what the problem was..problem solved. K. h. alot of supposed kid friendly soaps, detergents etc can cause mild allergic reactions, we use arm and hammer super washing soda for our daughters laundry, no harsh detergent, no allergic reaction.
