Help!!!! My almost 3 year old was running to her play room to get a toy and on her way she stumbled and fell on her face, i ran to her and she was bleeding just a little from her gums. im guessing she fell on her teeth when i checked her teeth the front right tooth was just a little loose :( i called my dentist right away in a panic< we went in and she said just to monitor it within the next weeks to come. has this ever happend to anyone? any advice anyone can give me? even words of encouragement will help! i feel so horrible, i really dont want my little girl to lose this tooth at such an early age! i hope it will heal and get firm within the next couple of days.

What can I do next?

Just wait it out and the tooth should heal from the inside at the root, usually dentist want to keep it in as a spacer. The only reason they would need to take it is if it gets infected. My daughters did but that is only because the root was showing and it was broken in half.

Our son push his two front teeth up into his adult teeth when he was jumping from a wall to a trash can at a friends house (and just told me he triped and fell, but later felt he better come clean, lol) and he fell between the two trash cans, back then they were metal. They just kept an eye on them and waited to see how he would do. It did take a little longer for his adult teeth to come down, but he was fine. I fell when I was 18 monthes old and broke my front tooth and they had to pull it, I know I did not have a front tooth until I was 7 or 8, the new one came in fine my gum was a little higher, but it did come down to meet the other one.

When I was 2, I fell outside on the sidewalk and cracked my front tooth in half. I had to have it pulled. Even though I'm sure my parents were freaked, it really was no big deal. I went about toddlerdom like a normal kid and a few years later my permanent tooth came in. No additional damage done, I have no memory of it whatsoever (except what I've been told) and I have never had any dental issues because of it. Not sure if this story is helping, but hopefully it is! Kids hurt themselves, it's just a part of growing up. If your daughter does wind up losing the tooth, remember it is not the worst thing in the world. There are so many far worse injuries kids sustain. They are very resilient. And she will be fine : )

Yes, it will probably tighten back up after a few days. I don't think there is anything you can do to speed it up. Just tell her not to touch it.

When my son was about that age, he'd bumped his tooth and it turned black. The dentist I went to then, wanted to pull it plus he terrified my son....I said no, and went to another dentists (which we stuck with) and he said, absolutely not...it's just bruised and will whiten up again, which it did. It also became more firm in his mouth and he lost it normally with he lost his other baby teeth.

I am smiling as I read your post....I am the mama of two boys and my four year old is currently sporting a toothless grin thanks to a skate boarding incident where he knocked loose 8 (!) teeth. They all tightened back up and he only lost one. My oldest son also knocked out his front teeth scootering down a driveway but this was after knocking his front teeth loose (bottom and top) at least half a dozen times. In the beginning I would take him to the dentist, have xrays, panic, etc...Eventually I realized that they usually tighten up within a few weeks. DON'T continue to wiggle it and DO watch for discoloration in the tooth. She likely won't lose the tooth (it generally took a very bloody/traumatic incident for my sons to actually lose the tooth) but even if she does, she'll be OK (and it makes for really cute pictures.) Good luck to you and your daughter.

My son slipped on the tile and knocked his teeth almost completely out. (I was in VA...yikes!) My husband pushed them back in place and they healed fine. 6 yrs later his dentist said they were fine as long as there were no more serious injuries. Good news...his grown up teeth came in just fine! Best Wishes!

She and the tooth will be fine! When youngest was a toddler, he stumbled and fell and kinda pushed his teeth back into the gumline -- we just gave it a couple of days and they "fixed" themselves!
