Mustard Stain in Carpet!

After having almost 80 people in my house for a Memorial Day party I noticed someone spilled a large blob of yellow mustard on my carpeted front step. I let it sit a little too long and now even my handy little Spot Bot carpet cleaner loaded with rug cleaner and Oxy Clean will get the stain up. Do you have a tip for this kind of stain? It's literally the very first step so it's pretty noticeable.

Try Resolve GRANULES>>>> I had a stain on my beige carpet from Mustard, beans, grease from my sausage (table leaf dropped plate of food hit carpet)...ok so the stain was there for over 3 years and my Mom brought this over & it took a couple of times but it came out..just follow the directions on continer...remember it is not the spray liquid & it is a bit harder to find but I have found at Walmart, sometimes Menards.

Good Luck

The only thing that has worked on getting black crayon, red wine and mustard from a white carpet is Sol-U-Mel from Melaleuca. I can share some if your other efforts don't work for you.

You can go to the dollar store and buy a product called "Awesome". It only costs $1.00 and I use it all the time - blood, grass, poop, what ever may come my way.

My only problem is that we tend to run out of it before I have a chance to get more.

I highly recommend an organic, nontoxic cleaner from Melaleuca,Inc. called "PreSpot"
They also have an amazing stain remover called "sol u mel"
So safe--you don't need to use gloves or wear a mask as with most store brands. Check out www.SaferForYourHome.com

cold water, Dawn dish soap, baking soda. scrub with stiff brush pat dry. you may have to repeat 4-5 times but it'll come up. let it dry out after scrubbing for the day so you can see the improvement.

Hi M.,,I totally understand where your coming from! My nephew came over(he was 3) and started playing in my daughters room while she was at school and he got ahold of her chapstick, it was RED! He smeared it all over her light beige carpet in her room and I tried everything to remove it,,,But my last resort was the Oxy clean,I ended up going to Walmart and I brought the Oxy spray, I soaked it for about an hour and then scrubbed it and used my Hoover steam vac, I filled the tank with steaming hot water, and it actually removed the large red stain,,I have even had a friend use oxy to get a lipstick stain out of her carpet and said that it worked,,,Just give it time to soak and give it a good scrub and hopefuly it should come out. Good Luck! I hope you get it resolved.

I use Folex on any and all carpet stains. It's safe to use around pets and children and it does a better job than anything else I've tried. You can find it at regular grocery stores. Good luck!

Hi M.,

Try peroxide and a toothbrush. Works wonders on a lot of different stains I've had.
