I have been having an issue with my multivitamin making me feel nausea and sick feeling about 30 minutes after I take it. Can anyone recommend a multivitamin that doesn't give you that sick feeling?

What can I do next?

My vitamins used to make me sick, then someone suggested I put the container in the freezer because it gets rid of the gases in the tablet? Anyhow, I tried it and never had a problem since. Good luck!

I take womens one a day and it never makes me feel sick unless i take it on an empty stomach. However, every multivitamin will make you feel sick if you take it on an empty stomach. If theres no food around, take it with milk, as milk coats the stomach.

Amen on the empty stomach advice!!! The ONLY way I can take my assortment of supps and vitamins is to take them WITH a meal. I have about 6 pills total. I eat a few bites, take a pill...then I eat a bite and take the next pill till they are gone. For me, even taking all of them directly AFTER the meal is not good enough. During the meal is what works for me.
Also, taking them before bed is the WORST for me...ooohh!!!...talk about burping agony!!!!

Good Luck!!!

I had the same problem. Women's one a days make me sick or even vomit. I take Flintstones vitamins. They work the same. My dr. even had me use them as prenatals(2 a day with a folic acid supplement).

I take chewables at night before bed prescribed by my doc. I don't feel sick with them, but I did with the large ones you had to swallow. There is also a gummy one that I think is a Target Up brand that I did okay with . The downside to that one is that it doesn't have iron, so you would need to take a separate iron tab which is probably what is making you sick to begin with. my SIL takes Flinstones chewables and doesn't get sick on them (she was very sensitive to the ones her OB prescribed.)

I just take the gummy vitamins my kids take. Take them with or after a meal, not on an empty stomach. I had problems with the monster prenatal ones when pregnant but not regular ones.

The iron in multivitamins is what makes me feel sick. My dr. Suggested Flinstones without the iron. They worked great, but now I take a bunch of different ones that I found at our coop. They have people who work in the vitamin department and are great with helping to pick out the right ones.

Do you eat something with it? That may help.

I, too, had the same feeling after taking my vitamin in the morning -even with food. So, I started taking it at night instead. Worked for me.

are you taking it with food?

any time i take ANY kind of vitamin i take it with food. it helps too; because your body is already digesting the food, it will more easily digest the vitamin to. so take it only with food and dont skip breakfast!

It usually is the binders and fillers used by some companies that make people feel sick.

The vitamin I take is a whole food vitamin, with over 50 years of science to support it. I LOVE it! You can order it online and have it delivered to your front door.

Do you have any food allergies?? I am allergic to the iodine in shellfish (betadine pre-surgery topical antibiotics as well). I have found that I MUST take a multi-vitamin that does not provide any idodine at all or I will be sick (I can't even buy iodized salt). If you do have any allergies- take a close look at the ingredients of the vitamin- you may be surprised.

Have you tried eating when or just before you take it? That tends to help. I take Oligo.

Hi Erin,

Johanna's right about taking it on a full stomach. There are also other reason which include the fact that it won't do any good if your stomach juices aren't flowing :)

I take a multivitamin/mineral complex that is powered by oligofructose complex which is guaranteed to absorb. It doesn't make me nauseous. My niece was impressed with the info I gave her on the vitamin but can't swallow pills so she takes the chewable. Let me know if you'd like some info. I can shoot it over to you...

Regards,

M.

I always had sick feelings too taking multi vitamins so the only time I actually used them is when I had to...during pregnancy.

I now found a powder blend that I mix in a liquid. So much better for me because i can mix it right into my smoothy in the morning. The best thing is that i have a ton more energy using this stuff :)

If I take one of the huge multi-vitamin pills, I also feel sick. If I cut it in half, and only take half a day I feel fine. I now buy the multi-vitamins that are smaller because they contain less number of vitamins.

I too take my vitamins right before going to bed and I don't have any problems with doing it that way.
