Muffin Tops and Back Fat-How to Minimize or Elimate?

Ok Mamas...this is a bit embarassing. I have both of these issues. I just wondered if there are certain excercises you've found helpful for these areas. I'm getting back into shape soon! I admit, I've been lacking but I don't want to beat myself up either. In the meantime, are there certain undergarments you found helpful or things you definitely do NOT want to wear. That's the craziest part is making sure my clothes cover the "bad parts!" To top it off, I have a shorter torso and I'm larger in the bust area too.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

You've all had great ideas. Thanks for the book idea and what to wear and what excercises to focus on. What I needed was a good, swift kick in the behind for letting myself get so out of shape! When I put these tips to use, I'll look Fabulous in no time...

Kick boxing twice a week and Pilates once or twice per week....amazing results!! Proper fitting clothes also make the world of difference.

Don't beat yourself up... love your body in whatever shape it's in... and then work to make it better! That said, muffin top and back fat are caused by wearing clothes that are too tight. Even if you're a size 4XX or whatever, you don't have muffin top unless your pants are too tight, causing the extra fat up top to roll over the jeans. And back fat is because your bra is too tight. Size up so you don't have to worry about either of those, and then when you lose a few pounds, you can go back down to the clothes you're wearing now... but you will look good wearing them!

And... to answer your question about exercises... no, nothing targets muffin top or back fat areas. That's just excess fat, so losing weight is what you need. Not any specific exercises.

Your pants are too low and too tight. You need pants that come up high and wear a shirt that you do not tuck in. You also need a bigger bra. It sounds like you are trying to wear the same clothes that you wore when you where thinner. Do not wear bulky clothes either since that will make you look bigger.

You and I have the same shape! You might want to check out a book called "wheat belly." I've cut all wheat out of my diet, and I'm NEVER hungry now, and the book talks about how wheat can give you a big belly, muffin top, and back -- all that abdominal fat that is so bad for you. Might want to check it out.

High waists hide muffin top. MT happens when the waist is too low. You can get a higher waist without going into 'Mom Jeans'-just make sure the band doesn't go to your natural waist. Paige Hidden HIlls is a perfect jean for muffin top It has a higher waist and the band is much thicker than most which gives a little extra support. I have also found Gap Long and Lean to help with this.

As for the back fat-the most important thing is to get a bra that fits. They make them now to specifically address this problem-I saw them in Kohls. No T shirts or knits of any kind either. You should be in button down blouses and looser sweaters. Cardigans are great for this.
Cardio is the main thing to hit back fat. And of course diet.

Go find a Spanx bra. It will make you look better in your tops. A girlfriend was so excited about hers, and lo and behold, she was right! She DID look better in her shirts because the back of it didn't pouch out her fat from under her bra strap. (If that makes sense.)

I got Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. I did the thirty days of it. I did ten days of each level. I just want you to know it gets boring!!! But I did notice a little difference. I am now on to the slim in 6. Yes you do the same thing everything with this one too, but it just seems more fun? It is pretty cheap on amazon. However these are 45 min where Jillian is only 20 min. that is why I started with Jillian lol! Also I bought a pedometer on amazon also. It is called Striiv! I LOVE IT! I am addicted it really motivates you and gives you challenges you can do to help you get off the couch! After you earn so much "energy" (the more you move the more "energy" you earn) it builds up and gives a donation of clean water for a day for a child, or a polio vaccine, or a plot in the rainforest the size of a parking spot for a year!!!! FREE!! They have sponsers that pay for it!! I woudl totally reccomend to EVERYONE!!

Also watch your portions and increase your water intake! Every little bit helps! GL!

losing a little weight and toning up will help a lot... but for a quicker fix wear "body shapers" like spanks, I actually use leonisa, and a lot of people find that control tops and camis can help . Also... if you pants "cinch" you right at the hips... but fit well elsewhere, it could be just that your body shape and pants are not quite perfectly fit... with many pants moving buttons just a centimeter or and inch will fix that problem. I am high waist-ed, so even though i am thin... pants don't always fit me in a perfectly flattering way, and "high waist pants" ride up or don't reach my actually waist, unattractive)... thankfully I own a needle and thread, and I buy low or mid rise pants to adjust. I think "seamless" bras that fit well and have a good under wire support would fix the "back fat problem"- most women aren't wearing bras that fit! If you are not 100% sure your bra fits you and supports you like a glove, go get professionally fitted. Remember, undergarments are the foundation of your whole outfit... if they are not correctly fitted, NOTHING you wear will look quite right!

Good Luck!

Sorry but I think it is a matter of losing weight. When I put on a couple of pounds I start to notice excess weight there. I can typically get it under control by getting back to my running & walking routine but once I slack off it tries to sneak back.
