Hello N.,
Welcome to Houston (almost). I have an 19 month old son and live in NW Houston. I work part-time from home and take my son to a wonderful Church school - they offer full and part-time hours for kids from infant - Preschool. The name is Spring Cypress Presbyterian and the Director is Marsha McComb - ###-###-####. I really like the school and their curriculum. There are other great places but I prefer a Christian environment so don't know a lot about other preschools. As for Pediatricians, Texas children's Hospital has a group of 4 clinics in NW Houston - so depending on where you will be living in the NW area, there is a clinic very close to you. Hours are very convenient (late night and weekend). FM 1960 Pediatric Center: ###-###-####

Best to you in your move to Houston!

Hi N.--welcome to Houston! I hope your pregnancy is going well. Have you considered a Certified Nurse Midwife and birthing in a great Birth Center?
My name is Kathy Vande Giessen, CNM, MSN--and that is what I offer. I've been in business 3 years,(a midwife for 12 years) and have over 300 very satisified families. The midwifery model of care differs from the medical model by supporting normal, healthy moms in pregnancy and birth. Your birth your way! My consulting OB/GYN is always available, and very supportive of my work in the birth center.
Research supports out-of-hospital birth as being safer, with much better out-comes. Please see my web site, and feel free to contact me for a consult and tour. Website is www.home.earthlink.net/~kathyvg/

N.,

Welcome to the Houston area!

I live in Spring too and love it, you will find that the Spring/Woodlands area has alot of resources for kids and families. My daughters have really bad allergies and I have searched for 4yrs. for a really good one....FINALLY last week I started seeing a new Allergist - Dr. Tamboli...she is AMAZING! She has two locations which are between 45min-1hr. from me but she is so worth it. Below are the reccomendations I have...

Pediatrician: Dr. Cristine Broxton (located off 45 & 1960)
phone: ###-###-####
*Staff and Dr. are wonderful!

OB/GYN: Dr. Timothy Waterhouse
phone: ###-###-####
*(has a few locations...one closer to Willowbrook which is closer to Spring and one in Med. Center by Texas Womans Hospital - I have been seeing him for 6yrs. and he delivered both of my daughters (ages 4y & 2y) which were high risk. AMAZING Dr.!!! I have recommended so many people to him....4 of my friends currently see him as well and love him.

Gymnastics and Ballet: The Little Gym of Spring
phone: ###-###-####
*Both of my daughters have been going here for 1 1/2 yrs. and we all love it. The Staff is so great with the kids and most importantly to my husband and I is that this is a Non-competative place. They focus on the kids having a good time and learning trust and skill. My daughters have both learned so much here and they love their "teachers". They offer both Gymnastics and a combination Dance/Gymnastics class (which my 4yr. old is in on Friday afternoons) they do a half hour of dance (15min. tap, 15min. ballet) and a half hour of gymnastics. They also have classes for your 2yr. old which are mommy & me classes. We have our 2yr old in one Mondays (Super Beast Class in the morning) It is wonderful to see how my girls have learned so much from this place....I love it!

Well, I wish you and your family the best of luck with your move. Let us all know how things worked out for you and if you end up at The Little Gym, I would love to meet another mamasource mom.
