Hi, my husband may be transferred to Chicago and we live in Dallas area. We have a small dog & 8 year old daughter. Looking to live in Chicago. Heard that Lakeview is Fam & pet friendly. Suggestions on neighborhood & excellent schools would help as we consider options. Thanks!

Roscoe Village is a good neighborhood to live in. My dad has been living in the area for about 24 years now. There's lots of families with children. There's even Audubon Elementary School, which is between Addison St and Cornelia Ave. All three of my children attended and graduated from there. There's Lane Tech High School on the corner of Addison St and Western Ave. There's a PNC Bank, North Community Bank, and Chase Bank nearby. There's also a Jewel, Mariano's, and Walgreens in the area. It's a very good neighborhood.

I live in Lincoln Square...just north of Lakeview. Less congested, very family friendly (tons of families with small kids in my area), and lots of pets.
I just signed a petition going around to add a dog park to the area, in fact.
Bell and Coonley are in the top schools in the city, and are in this area, if you're looking at CPS. There are also tons of excellent private schools, if you're not in the CPS zone that you want to be in.

I've lived in the city for 15 years, and this is by far, my favorite neighborhood.

honestly, no schools in the city are good. people are brainwashed to believe they are good...
A "good" CPS school is a very mediocre suburban school..

Hi, I don't think there's anywhere in Chicago that isn't pet friendly, so many people have dogs. If you're looking to rent it's a little harder to find pet friendly landlords though. Your biggest hurdle will be real estate values. If you live in a big, 3000 sq ft 4 bedroom home there, be prepared to scale down to a 2 bed/2 bath 1400 sq ft condo here for the same price. I have 2 boys 11 & 14 who go to public schools and live in Lincoln Park . You"ll be fine there, Weat Lakeview, St Bens (bell school). The key is checking the school district on www.school locator.cps.k12.il.us look for a level 1 school. If you're looking to buy, I've been a full time Realtor for 26 years and happy to help you. My email is ____@____.com luck with your possible move! Chicago is a great city! B.

We live in Lakeview, and yes, there are lots of dogs and kids, too! Nettlehorst Elementary (60657) is a great school. We love that we can walk everywhere, have great public transit options, and are right near the Lake.

Feel free to send me a message if you'd like more info. Good luck with the move!
