Hi there! My husband just accepted a job in Arlington and we will be moving soon. I was looking for advice on nice areas to look for homes, as well as what elementary schools are good. My son is still a toddler, but I need to take schools into consideration. I would appreciate any advice that you have. I am also looking at putting him into Fielder Road Baptist church for preschool...any feedback on this?
Thanks so much for your help!

My husband and I lived and worked in Arlington for 4 years, he was a police officer there and I worked with juvenile offenders. I now work in the Tarrant County schools. Stay away from the east side (the housing is cheaper- but there is high crime) also stay away from Division street. The best side is anywhere in West Arlington, Green Oaks and Arkansas, Little Road area. The best schools include Boles Jr. High, Ousley Jr. High and any of the elementary schools that feed into them. South Arlington/Mansfield area are also great, but there is a lot of traffic in that area both in the morning going out and evening coming in.

We had a GREAT realtor- Kecia Hardin ###-###-#### Her husband is a canine officer for Arlington police, she has two kids, and knows the area very well, listens to what you want, and matches what you want, need, can afford- everything all in one.

Good luck and if you want more info on the schools, feel free to email me. ____@____.com

We live in N. Arlington and we love it. From what I have looked at Butler, Pope and Larson are all very good elementary schools. DH recently got a new job and we are very sad to be leaving the area. The N. Arlington Mom's Club has a great group of ladies!

Hi, I read in D magazine a few years ago that Ashworth is SE Arlington was the best Arlington elementary. I have two friends whose children go there. One is very pleased with her experience there, but the other one isn't so happy. She moved her daughter there from a private school, so I'm assuming it wasn't what she was expecting. For daycare, I think Primrose can't be beat. There's one in Mansfield on Matlock, close to the Country Club Dr. intersection. Living in SE Arlington seems to be okay, too. My two friends who live there have never had any complaints about crime, or anything like that.

Hope this helps!

Hi C.,
I was raised in Arlington. We moved there when I was 4 and I just moved from there to Burleson this past July. The area that I lived in was a great place to grow up. I have nothing but good memories with the schools I went to. Little Elementary/Young Junior High/Martin High School (but later transfered to Arlington High school. We lived in a neighborhood right beside Martin. Houses range up to $200K. It's the kind of neighborhood where houses are never for sale because everyone wants to stay. It is safe and I honestly have no recollection of any crime. I do know Arlington well as I had friends that grew up in SE Arlington and North Arlington, so I know a little about all of it. If you have any other questions, feel free to email me. I can be more candid in an email as opposed to a bulletin that everyone can read.
I hope this has helped and Good luck!! :)

Hi C.!

You can check out reviews and parent ratings of Arlington schools here: http://www.greatschools.net/city/Arlington/TX

I talked to a few of my teacher friends and they all mentioned Duff, Butler, and Little Elementary. Duff and Little would probably be a quicker commute to Fielder Rd. Do you know what general area you are looking in? Or what price range? Also if you are in southeast Arlingon, in the Mansfield school district, there is Charlotte Anderson Elementary. I've heard SO many wonderful things about this school!!!

Hi C.,

First, welcome to the area - we live in Arlington too!

My hubby is a Realtor and if you do not have one yet, they are your source for information about schools, areas for homes, and anything else you need - that is their job in addition to finding the right home for you! He can attest to that!

As for Fielder Road - I've heard positive things about them. We are at Most Blessed Sacrament and New World (they are across the street from each other). I work, so he gets 4 days a week out of both! We love it both places. I'm involved with many moms clubs & such and have only heard positive things about Fielder Road.

Good Luck & if you'd like I csn pass along my hubby's info. - he's a seasoned Realtor, which I can safely say, since I used to be in Real Estate before my 3 yr. old came along!
