Movie Theatres ..

I don't know about Tampa but I have heard that the movie theatre in Plant city is cheaper. When we lived in Winter Haven they had free movies for the kids during the summer. There is also a drive in movie theatre in Lakeland that is very cheap. It usually plays a kids movie first then a more adult movie second. You can see 2 movies for one admission. We went there with the kids and let them watch the first movie then had them lay in the back of the suv with pillows and blankets and sleep while we watched the second one or if it was appropriate for them the older ones could watch with us. There are a few options but they are not as close as you would probably like.

S., there is a dollar movie place in Seminole, FL which is very West St. Pete, so it is quite a drive. If you are planning on doing any beach hoping, however, it might be an option. There is also Tampa Theatre in downtown Tampa, but it caters more to the Artsy crowd. You may want to look for specials. A good example is the Busch Gardens fun card. It costs a lot initially, but then you can use it for an entire year of entrance to Busch Gardens. A FREE activity that is fun is to just go to Kate Jackson park in Olde Hyde Park (near downtown), and let the kids play in the park. They also have fountains that spray water, and they can play in them. -- D. :)

Afternoon matinees are always less expensive. Better still are the drive-in theatres. Surf the web to find one near you! There's one in Ruskin & a very big/nice one in Lakeland. Have fun!

have you ever gone to the ruskin drive-in? it only costs $4.50 per adult and kids 8 and under are free. you can bring in your own food and drink (no alcohol). see the following website: http://www.ruskinonline.com/DriveIn.htm
by the way, it's best to go when the weather is cooler. when it is warm the mosquitoes are awful.

You might consider what we do...we buy DVD's and have a pizza night at home to make it special w/popcorn for dessert! Once you buy movie tickets, even matanee, then popcorn...they get thirsty and want a drink...... With the DVD at home, the price is right, you can monitor the rating and even see it again! We call it "Movie Night" and it is a family affair. We usually allow him to have a friend over too. Donna
