My husband and I have been living in the Mountain View area for about 9months, having moved from England. I'm 7 months pregnant and wondering i there are any mother to be groups in the area. I don't know many people here and it would be great to get to know others who are also pregnant.
Thanks,
A.

I began taking pre-natal yoga at Blossom Birth Services in Palo Alto and continued through Mommy-Baby yoga. I connected with wonderful moms-to-be to share my concerns and joys and still continue those friendships 4 years later.
I also joined the El Camino new parent classes, which were extremely hlepful as a new Mom. BTW, their lactation consulation facility is the best!

After that when my son was about 6 months old, I moved on to I become a director for my Mountain View Las Madres Playgroup for almost 3 years now. The friendships I have made have been invaluable!

Las Madres! It's grouped by city/subregion and birth year. It's great to get to know the MaMas who have already delivered in 2010 in your area and you and your baby will have a fantastic time at parkdates/playdates and other activities! www.lasmadres.org

I second Las Madres. They have groups for every town in the south bay area from Moutain View/Cupertino south. I enjoyed my group in Santa Clara when my baby was little.

Hi A.
A great place to meet expecting mom's is in your childbirth class. I took the class at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View and we were given a list with everyone's contact information. After you have given birth El Camino Hospital hospital offers a great class for New Mom's. It's called New Mothers Support Group. I joined that class and loved it. My son is now almost 4 1/2. Friends I met from that group still meet weekly. You don't need to be a patient of the hospital to join the class.

I've also heard great things about Las Madres. I think it's more for after your baby is born though.

I also went to the New Mother's Support Group at El Camino Hospital. It's a series of sessions, not just for the newborn stage, but continues into toddler hood as well. It is very helpful both for developing your parenting style/skills and discussing issues/concerns. The sessions are lead/facilitated by a nurse/child educator. Many of our group went through all the sessions, and then we evolved into a playgroup that met on our own. We still get together with friends we made there - 12 years ago!

Congratulations! Harmony Birth Resources in Campbell (about 20 minutes south of Mountain View) is a great place to meet other moms to be. They have all kinds of classes (prenatal yoga, childbirth prep, etc), as well as mom's groups. It continues to be a wonderful place to find support after the baby is born too, as there are also many classes and groups for new families (breastfeeding support groups, mommy-and-me classes, even new dad's groups). Here's a link to their website if you're interested in checking it out:

There is a similar place, Blossom Birth, in Palo Alto - I have not been there before: http://blossombirth.org/

Las Madres is great. When my kids (now 17 and 19) were little the group was organized by city (Mountain View in your case) and by birth year of your child (2010). We had weekly park days where we just met in a local park. Find out the local schedule and start attending. Enjoy!
