Does anyone know if you are able to drink this tea while pregnant? I'm due in November but am still nursing my 8 month old (they will be 12 months apart). I just want to keep up my supply for her right now but with the hormones and everything it has dropped way off. Any advice would be geat...thanks!

I am not sure if you can drink it while prego or not, but if you haven't tried it before and you end up trying it, I just wanted to give you a heads up, I tried for 2 days and didn't notice any change, then the 3rd day, I woke up and I was back to where I was when I first started, like the stage where your body doesn't know how much the baby is going to take, I almost got discouraged, so if it is safe ( I don't know) and you try it don't give up, it took me a few days! Good luck

Mother's Milk Tea is fine to drink while breastfeeding. It contains fenugreek an herb that is used around the world to increase milk production. It works well for many women.
I am a labor and delivery and post partum nurse who helps women with breast feeding.

with my first one to increase milk supply I would try to pump after I feed her, and sometimes pump on the other side as I feed her.
As for the tea, I was not pregnant but I remember taking something and could not tell that it helped,
I did call the OU Hospital and Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma city and speak to the lactacian department. They have these books that are put out that tell them all kinds of stuff. You might also talk to your peditrcians office, * if they support breast feeding*
Also you can look up the LLC, they have email address for group leaders in your area that have access to all kinds of information.
With the first child I had her on strait breast milk, the first year, The second one I got sick and lost 100 lbs, just after I had him. Anyway I had to supplement a bottle with him.
But like I said about calling, they were great and the information they can look up is on studies of how much enters the breast milk etc.
Hope this helps

Hey A.!
When I was pregnant with my fisrt daughter I lived on Pepsi and tea. The nutritionist told me that I could have decaff tea as much as I wanted. It does have a slightly different taste but after a few glasses you won't know the difference at all! It is far better than going from regular Pepsi to caf. free Pepsi :) Good luck!

I am a doula and certified childbirth educator. I believe mother's milk tea is fine during pregnancy, but you may get more effect from taking fenugreek tablets directly. Another good tea is red raspberry leaf. Of course talk to your pediatrician and OB first. Here is a list that is from the canadian health news website:
Herbs to Avoid During Pregnancy
Goldenseal, Rue, Tansy, Artemesia, Comfrey, Coltsfoot, Mandrake, Mistletoe, Pennyroyal, Poke Root, Black and Blue Cohosh, Motherwort, Yarrow, Senna, Cascara Sagrada, Buckthorn, Ephedra and Ma Huang. Avoid any hormonal herbs such as Licorice, Dong Quai, and Ginseng. The following teas are SAFE to drink during pregnancy if no more than 2-3 cups are used each day. They have little or no effect on the body when used in moderation, as long as you are allergy-aware: Alfalfa, ginger, raspberry, chamomile, hibiscus, rose hip, fennel, linden flowers, spearmint, fenugreek and peppermint

Anything that keeps you well-hydrated and rested will help, and let your 8 month old nurse as much she is willing. Some slack off of supply is normal now as she is eating more and more other foods. It's great that you are maintaining this gift for both of your babies! I wish you the best.
