I am looking for a 1-2 day a week Mother's Day Out Program near the Lakewood, Lake Highlands or Casa Linda Areas of Dallas. My Daughter is 19 months old and has never been on any type of "day care" program I am nervous but think it will be good for her. My husband was the one who suggested I find her a 1-2 day program to not only stimulate her but provide me with a break. I am expecting a baby boy in early Sept and he and I feel that it will be good for me to have the time alone with him and it will be good for her to have her own special activity.

What can I do next?

I have used CCDC (Christian Childhood Development Center) at Lake Highlands UMC (corner of McCree and Plano Rd) for 7 years now. They are great but probably have a waiting list. Check on it.

I have also heard great things about Ridgewood (mentioned previously), Bethany Lutheran (Walnut Hill and Ferndale), Northway Christian (Northwest Highway just past Northpark Mall), and Northpark Presby (Central near Walnut Hill).

Both my boys went to Ridgewood Park Weekday Program. They did the Mother's Day Out & their prek programs. They are wonderful! It is off of Lover's Lane just East of Abrams. I was sad that last year was our last year there since my youngest will go to St. Thomas next year. The majority of children there come from the Lakewood & Lake Highlands neighborhoods. Their contact info is ###-###-####.

Good luck!!! I remember how hard it was trying to make sure I found a loving (& safe) program for my boys. I feel very blessed & lucky that I did.

Hi B.,
For both of my boys, we used the MDO program at our church (Park Cities). So, I can't speak from personal experience. However, I was talking to a mom at a B-day party who had great things to say about Skillman Child Development Center. She said it was a really sweet program. I have also heard some nice things about the program at Wilshire Baptist. Good luck!

It has been some years as my youngest is soon to be 17 but I used the MDO at Northlake Baptist at McCree and Ferndale and it was great!! You might give them a call and take a tour.

You might want to look into Lakeside Baptist Church on Garland Road, near Buckner:
http://www.lbc-dallas.org/
Their MDO is Monday/Wednesday 9:30-2:30 and you can choose if you want one day a week or both days. I have heard good things about them from several people.

My son goes to Academy Kids MDO at FUMC Mesquite:
http://www.academykidsmesquite.com/
Their program is Wed/Fri 9:15-2:15. It is about a 15 min. drive from the Casa Linda area but it offers an extended day program (morning and afternoon) if you have an appointment to make before 9:15 or after 2:15, and a monthly Kids Night Out in the evening. They also accept cloth diapers, which Lakeside Baptist does not. My son loves going there and they love him. Many of the staff are parents with kids in the program themselves. I just felt a good vibe from the moment I first walked in. Can't say enough good things about them!

But most important is to find a program that feels good to you. Good luck in your search!
