We ordered a wool rug from ebay (Turkey) and it had clothing moths, we threw out the rug, but are infested. We also have meal moths. We have used the bait lures but to little success, We have frozen all of our clothes and textiles in plastic bags for over 48 hours (that was a week of work) - we still have moths.
Terminex came and put out more lures, to little or no effect. I don't know what else to do short of spraying poison throughout our home.
Has anyone had any success with this problem?

Hi Betsy,The same happened to me at about six weeks.They couldnt find the sac,and were talking eptopic pregnancy.Long story short low and behold next visit the sac was visible on ultrasound.I gave birth in Jan to a baby girl.Right now I guess it could go either way.Only time will tell.Good luck!A. from channahon.
The old fashioned cure was always moth balls. Don't know if that gets rid of them but it is supposed to repell them. They might vacate if you put those everywhere.

My grandmother always said she put moth balls in her clothing trunks and drawers to deter months. I son't know if it actually worked because I never saw a moth at her home.

Last summer we had a bunch of moths in the garage and a few ended up coming into the house. I didn't think too much about it...until several months later when I opened a box of cereal (that I had been eating out of for the past week!) and it was full of worms!! Turns out they were the larva stage of meal moths! I went through every box in my pantry looking for any sign of moths, webs or worms and ended up having to throw out almost everything in there. It was a costly day, but I got rid of them all and haven't seen one in many months. They can even get into a completely sealed package that has never been opened! I keep the moth traps out, but have never caught anything in them. Turns out we're pretty sure they came in a bag of birdseed we had bought! Good luck!!
Yikes! I've had larval critters in my dry products before but these sound awful. I would definitely make sure to take action on IKEA once you get this under control. Make sure to keep track of everything you've had to do/spend in order to alleviate the situation so that you get fair compensation.
As far as a remedy, my only guess would be to wash clothing in vinegar. I can't imagine they'd be able to tolerate that and it definitely is safe for your family. I might resort to staying in a hotel for a couple weeks while you spray the house and let it air out afterwards. Go to www.mothering.com/discussions and check out the health and natural family living forums to get info on safe/natural remedies.
Sue the person you bought it from! How dare they send infested articles to anyone. Might take removing furnishings completely while freezing is going on with you staying in a hotel. Judge Judy or any of them would love this case.
We have had grain moths before (both times they came in brand new whole grains we bought) it just happens. What has worked for us every time is you need to go through all of your grain and cereals that are opened and check for larva and moths. Throw out anything and everything that is infected (right out side don't leave it in the house)
Once you have checked everything make sure you wash out the cabinet or wherever your grains are with either a bleach solution or something similar. And make sure everything goes back in a sealed container. I used clorox clean up and even though we had to throw out a lot of food they never came back.
Sorry I can't help with the cloth moths, we've never had those. I would try the moth balls.
We had the same problem last year and tried everything! Finally, we called Terminex and they came a few times before the moths disappered.
