My son is 17 months and everytime he gets a mosquito bite it gets inflamed, very red & usually takes 3 weeks or more to heal. Right now he has 8 mosquito bites on his head & face. My poor thing looks horrible and I don't know what to put on the bites to help them heal. We have a vacation planned to the dominican republic in september but I'm even thinking about cancelling it because I know there are a lot of mosquitos overthere. Any advice??

What can I do next?

How does he have mosquito bites in February? Mosquitoes die in the cold weather. They have to be some other kind of bug. I would take him to the dermatologist if they are lasting for 3 weeks. That's not just a normal mosquito bite. It is infected or something else is going on.
For the vacation, you can use Bite Blocker for Kids, which is a soybean oil based product without any chemicals in it. Here is the company website. http://www.homs.com/

Hi M.,
You may try to add brewers yeast to his drinks and garlic capsules (if he can swallow them) Mosquito's don't like the bitterness of the skin. (Only they can smell it) The other remedy is to use a natural spray containing tea tree oil. If you want more info contact me. This is only available from the manufacturer not sold in retail stores.

My son has the same problem. On our recent trip to India, his entire ear had swollen up because of one mosquito bite and he had to have allergy medication to bring it down. There are products available which reduce the chances of getting bitten. Why don't you check with your doctor if he/she can recommend something of the sort?

Hi M., Your son may have an allergy to the bites. You should get some bug repellant wipes to use when you are out. If he gets a bite, use benedryl cream to take down swelling. My best, Grandma Mary

It can be found @ http://healthyhart.usana.com. it found in the sense section. you have nothing to lose to if your not completely satisfied with it you are able to return it for your money back. It has natural properties in it. It's also a great mask.

The same thing happens with my daughter. We used a mosquito net and then put on hydrocortisone cream, and it helped calm it and relieved the itch.

I use the skin so soft from Avon it helps to keep mosquitos away. also, you can try using tea tree oil as soon as he gets bitten. It heals quicker and and their are no marks left behind.
