Morning Sickness - Burt,IA

I am in the 7th week of my first pregnancy, and I have had no morning sickness at all. I am not even very tired. I have been going to bed about an hour or 2 earlier than normal, but that's about it. My breasts are tender, and if it weren't for that and the positive pregnancy test done by a nurse, I wouldn't even think I am pregnant! I was wondering if this is normal or if I should be concerned. I read that women who have morning sickness have a decreased rate of miscarriages. My Mom had a miscarriage before she had me, so I am a bit concerned. Any advice or info would be great, as none of the books I have bought say anything about this. Thanks!

Congrats on the pregnancy! I didn't start to get sick until 8 weeks and it never stopped after that until I had the babys. The only reason it probably lasted that long was that I was carrying triplets! But everyone is totally different. I have had lots of friends who were never sick and they have beutiful babies. I have never heard anything about miscarriages and sickness having something to do with each other. Good luck!

I lost 6 prenancies at 12 weeks, i was sick up till that last days at the 12 week appt for the ultra sound/vaginal ultra sound. still thinking i was pregnant,, sickness it's not an accurate guide line..
you are probably just a lucky one ;-)
also, because your mother had a miscarriage doesn't mean you will.
they do say, and i'm hesitant to say this but it's IMPORTANT to know.
many, not ALL, of first pregancies end in miscarriage. they(dr's etc) don't know why.and unless you have had to have this conversation with fertility drs you may not have ran into this.. they think it may have something to do with the body needing to have that first implantation to prepare the uterus etc.. but that makes no sense for those women who don't miscarriage their first pregnancy.
I would suggest not to stress over it. talk to you dr about it how ever. and realize no matter how much you worry about it, isn't gonna change anything, if it isn't supposed to be this time. stressing might even be bad for your pregnancy.
i would say enjoy no sickness:-))

Everybody is different, I wouldn't worry too much. Be thankful! I lived on Saltine crakers for 4 months when I was pregnant with my son. However, I have talked with other moms who never had to deal with morning sickness. Beware, though- you're only in your 7th week...so it could sneak up on you! :)Stay positive & enjoy your pregancy! There's nothing else quite like it! Congratulations!

I had my first pregnancy when I was 21. I, also, didn't have morning sickness. In fact, I felt great during pregancy! I hope that you have a great pregnancy too!

Keep in mind that every pregnancy is different. That's why when you read about pregnancy 'symptoms' in books, there are multiple listed and often brief discussion. It is impossible to predict what kind of pregnncy experience you will have. A lot of women never experience morning sickness. Some women hve 'all-day-long sickness'. You have no reason to be concerned. Enjoy the fact that you are comfortable and feeling good. Not all women get to!!

Congrats!
I've had 8 pregnancies-2 of those resulting in live births. With all my miscarriages I oddly enough had mild to severe morning sickness and my two live births I had nothing at all. So sickness isn't an indicator of how well the pregnancy is going at all. Just keep in touch with your dr, make sure you are resting and eating well.

I was 8 weeks pregnant before I even knew I was. I had what I thought was the flu for about 2 wks, but never got physically sick (as in throwing up). After that, I was fine and had the energy I normally had before I got pregnant except for the big belly and everything. You probably will start getting tired easier when you enter the 3rd trimester. Caleb, my 5 1/2 yr old son was a perfectly healthy newborn and came full term. I hope this settles your worry a little bit.

Hi there!
Well let me tell you that you and I were some of the lucky few! I never got sick one day when I was pregnant with my daughter. I had the best pregnancy ever and took pregnancy tests all the time because I just didnt believe it. I felt better pregnant than not. It is completely normal, every woman is different. My mom was so sick with my brother but never sick one day with me. I really dont think you have anything to be concerned about. Your first pregnany is always kind of scary there is so much unknown. Good luck, hope this eases your mind some!

I compleatly understand what you are going through. The good news is, you are one of the women that others envy!! I was the same way with my first child. I was 23 when I got pregnant, had no morning sickness, slightly tired, got breasts for the first time in my life, and didn't wear maternity clothes until I was 6 months along. My mother also had 4 miscarriages before she carried my brother full term. I think you have nothing to worry about, you should consider yourself lucky that you are not puking every hour on the hour :) If you really are concerned, call your doctor, that's what they are there for. :) Hope this helps.

I wouldn't worry about it. I never started getting sick until my 8th week and then, YUCKY! That is my least favorite part of pregnancy so if you don't get it you are lucky. My sister-in-law is pregnant right now and she is out of her first trimester and she has never felt sick either. So although 8 out of 10 women experience morning sickness (and I hate that name because mine was either all day or just at night) 2 out of 10 don't so if you are one of those lucky ones, YEA for you!

It is true, that women with fewer symptoms have more miscarriages. However, this does not mean you are doomed for a miscarriage! Also, morning sickness tends to peak between 8 and 12 weeks, so your day may still me on it's way. :) Give it some time, and rejoice every day that you feel well! I threw up every day for 9 weeks with my first! Good luck.

Congratulations! :)
With my first pregnancy, I was sick (not throwing up, just nauseous part of the day) weeks 8-13. I'm pregnant again now, and was really only sick weeks 6-7. So, anything, esp. in the 1st trimester (which is through week 13), is probably pretty normal. Of course, there are some who are sick the whole time. My mom was a thrower-upper both of her whole preganancies. My sister and I have been totally different than that. My sister says she never did feel sick. So, don't worry unless you start cramping a lot and bleeding a lot. You're probably just blessed! :)

S., I know how hard it is not to worry about every little thing while you are pregnant. But, worrying effects you baby as much as just about anything else. I have had two perfectly healthy baby boys with absolutely not one moment of nausea or sickness through all of my pregancy! Relax, (I know easier said than done) and consider yourself one of the lucky ones who gets to enjoy their pregancy without being burdened with sickness! You are doing great and so is your baby!!! Best of luck!

I was barely sick with my first, a son. pregnancy affects everyone differently. articles I've read say that sometimes if you have a stong constitution that handles hormone levels well, estrogen levels can be a big contributor to whether you "get sick". For instance, if you're carrying a boy, you may not experience sickness than if you were carrying a girl where you'd have higher levels of estrogen. Which I know fell right in line when I compare my carrying my son to my daughter. My first was a miscarriage and I did feel sickness. My son none, my daughter...holy cow i felt bad.

I would say listen to you doctor. if you have questions, ask. That's what they are there for. also, only 1 in 4 pregnancies actually go to term. Not trying to scare you, but realize that when they do occur, it's common, not you did something wrong. While drs. can't predict a miscarriage, they are trained to watch for unusual occurances. Ask, ask, ask. no question is silly.

Good luck

I didn't realize I was pregnant w/ Cody (my fourth) until I was 8 weeks along. My boobs hurt, my back ached, and smells were bothering me, but I insisted that it was just a mild flu bug that I was having a hard time shaking. You would think I'd have figured it out sooner, it being my 4th pregnancy....
God bless you, girl! Some women feel super all during pregnancy, and some are absolutely miserable for the entire nine months. If you feel good, enjoy it! And, by all means, don't stress about not being sick! Stress isn't good for anyone, especially your baby!

I agree with the other, your just lucky. I had no sickness with my first. I didnt even know I was pregnat until i was almost 9weeks. I only missed one period, the one before that was a real light period, and I didnt think anything of it. I was not sick the entire time i was pregnant. When I got into my 6 or 7th month, i did develop carpal tunnel syndom, but other than that, my first pregnacy, i felt better during that time than i ever have in my life. K.

S. , I totally feel for you. I too just found out I am expecting my 4th child last week. I am roughly 9 weeks preggers now. And had it not been for the positive urine test , followed by a blood test I would not have believed it myself ! I have had no morning sickness, and the only signs Ive had is no cycle, and tender breasts and being tired. I too was freaking out since I had horrible morning sickness with my oldest (shes 14), morning sickness and blackouts with the twins(they are 10) and now here I am 10 years later pregnant with the 4th and final and so far it is smooth sailing. Enjoy the fact your not vomiting and sick. I know I am. As a mother of 3, I would say relax. Dont stress about not having morning sickness. When in doubt , ask your ob at your next appointment about it, I am sure he/she will confirm not everyone has morning sickness.

well congradulations sara, I'm on my third pregancy and third boy. I am like you do not get morning sickness, the only time i've gotten sick with this one is when i brush my teeth and thats at night. I'm sure you've heard this already but all pregnancys are different, so don't worry. I have never heard that first time pregnancys end in miscarages, so i wouldn't worry about that either. i have heard however that once you get into the 12th week you are pretty much in the clear. Have you noticed anything odd about smells yet? or some cramping, yes for me there was that. My second pregnancy i even spotted alot, we ended up having four ultrasounds because of it. so if you start doing that don't worry until the doctor says to. I remember crying over the possibility and then being relieved when they said he was fine. Also have tylenol and tums on hand because those are going to be your favorite things, when you need them.
good luck and congradulations again

First of all.... Congrats!!! Please do not worry, when I was pregnant with our first son I read EVERY book about pregnancy and my myself and my husband nuts. Our boys are 11 months apart and I never had one single episode of morning sickness with either one. From what I understand we are lucky that we did not have to expirence this aspect of pregnancy. Everyone's pregnancy is different, and each pregnancy you have will be different. My advise: Enjoy these next several months before the baby comes, spend quality time alone and with your husband. Most importantly, try not to make yourself crazy with the books and websites like I did. Good Luck and feel free to ask any questions you may have.
