I was wondering if anyone heard anything good or bad about the Flower Mound Montessori School on Justin Rd.
I am looking for a very good preschool for my 2 1/2 year old. I am very picky when it comes to school cause I want them to have the best teachers who would care for them just as I would. I do have a degree in Early Childhood so I am especially cautious when it comes to pre schools.

Be careful! They are actually a daycare, with Montessori done in a little part of the day. It sounds like you are looking for a good pre-school. Try Montessori Episcopal School. They hve programs that fit the kids ages-the kids adjust well and the teachers are great. It is nothing like Primrose, or Cornerstone, or Flower Mound Montessori. My three boys went there and we loved it. It is truly a school, not a daycare.

HI, E..

I did look into Flower Mound Montessori but was much more impressed with a competitor, Montessori Episcopal School. (MES is in Lewisville, but only a few minutes from the F.M. border.) I was won over for a variety of reasons: The educators at MES consider separation from family a learned skill rather than an unfortunate developmental "phase." (And let's face it, preschool for young toddlers is mostly about being away from momma.) In fact, MES has a whole detailed plan for how to help kids adjust and learn to like being away from home. The teachers even do home visits prior to the start of the school year so that children can meet their teachers on their own turf. Moreover, classes are very small (we have 10 in our class this coming year) with two teachers; kids learn at their own pace in true Montessori style. I would encourage you to book an appointment with Karen Morriera, the director. The school's phone number is in the phone book... I know they're nearly full, though, so be quick about calling. Good luck! J.

My daughter attended the Montessori Unlimited in Denton and we loved it. I have a friend who taught at the Flower Mound school and she said it was a good place. I can ask for more specific information if you like.

Hi E.. I think that you and I already have met each other through the MOMS Club playgroup on Mondays!! Anyway, as far as schools in Flower Mound that aren't church-based, and that offer part time care, I think that Flower Mound Montessori is my first choice. I also approached researching schools from an early childhood perspective. I'm sure you already know this, but they have the transition class and then the 3-6 year old class (that kids from the transition class move into when they are "ready.") To be honest, I'm not that thrilled with what I observed in the transition class. But I really liked the 3-6 year old classrooms. I had actually intended to start my son there this summer, but have put it off 6 months or so until he can skip the transition class and go straight to the older kids class. One thing that I think is really lacking is their outside play area. To be honest, it is the most unappealing play yard I've ever seen!! But in my case, I only intend to enroll him 3 mornings a week so I told myself that I can take him to wonderful parks on the other days!

My neighbor's little girl went to this school and it is amazing what all she has learned. I have heard several parents say this is the school to send kids to in Flower Mound.

Hello E.! I haven't heard of this particular school, but might check it out too as I am in the middle of making a switch with my 2-1/2 year old daughter (Alexandra!). I have put a deposit down on a Christian school that I really got a good feeling for called Cornerstone. It's off Morriss near Flower Mound Rd. They use ABECA.

Also, I did really like County Day Montessori out off 1171. (It's a little drive, but is so beautiful and seemed to be managed well.)

Can you tell me where this other school is please?

Thank you! I'd also love to meet some more moms with 2-1/2 year old girls!

Kindly,
