My son's preschool informed us today that they will be closing after this school year due to funding issues. So I'm totally bummed, we loved that school and now am scrambling to get him into another montessori preschool by fall, along with 86 other parents. I live in the Gilbert, AZ area and would like to know if anyone has suggestions, ones that they love, had a bad experience with, etc...in this area. Any help is appreciated! Thanks

What can I do next?

What school did he go to? The only montessori school that I am know anything about in Gilbert is Jennifer's Party Pad or I guess it is now called Greenhouse Montessori School. It is on Gilbert and Warner.

I liked it a lot when I went in to observe for a few hours one day! I loved the set up, the large play area and the activities that she did with the kids. Good luck-I hope this is not the school closing.

We absolutely love Greenhouse Montessori in Gilbert. It's primary teacher is a former St. Anne's teacher, Ms. Davina. My 5-y-o son has been going to Greenhouse Montessori for 2 years now and will be attending his 2nd year of summer camp this year. My 3-y-o daughter can't wait until summer camp to begin her career at Greenhouse. The works and activities are amazing and beyond what I ever expected to get out of a preschool. The close-knit family community also makes this school unique. There are several opportunities for parental involvement throughout the year, including helping out with class activities, field trips, and family activity nights. The kids have planted a garden, raised butterflies, ladybugs, and various other insects, raised money and mini-marched for CF, stuffed bears for Phoenix Children's Hospital, been visited by animals from the Phoenix Zoo, had months of weekly visits from various farm animals from Carter Family Farms, and made crafts for every holiday imaginable. There are family potlucks for Halloween, T-giving, and the December holidays. There are "Show-Me" nights where the kids get to show the parents their classroom and demonstrate what works they are doing currently. And, of course, I can't say enough about the quality of learning in the classroom. My son is doing works that are teaching him how to read, write, do math (my 5-y-o is doing multiplication!), all which foster a sense of pride and boost his confidence. I guess what I'm trying to say is, Greenhouse Montessori is a great school! Greenhouse Montessori, 505 S. Gilbert Rd., Gilbert 85296. ###-###-####. Hi J.,
I work for an awesome preschool in Gilbert. It is not a Montessori, but it has a very balanced blend of academics and play based concepts. We utilize Creative Curriculum and the Hand Writing Without Tears program. Creative Curriculum is based on the "whole child," and Handwriting Without Tears is a program which teaches the fundamentals of writing without pressure for tiny hands. I would suggest you check us out. We are located within the New Hope Community Church on Guadalupe just west of Val Vista. We are currently on Spring Break but resume next week; the phone number is ###-###-####. You can also go on-line and see the school details at Ladybuglearningclub.com. Good luck!

Hi J.,
This is J. with Greenhouse Montessori. I just noticed your post and saw that another member recommended my school. My heart is saddened with the news just as many families are. My son attends St. Anne and has for 3 years. He was there prior to my school opening and although I did pull him for a short time last year to be here with me, we both discovered that it was better to have our own space. I love St. Anne and respect what they have. My school is new but was created as a mom, former elementary teacher, and beliver in Montessori. My lead teacher, Miss Davina, has 8 years Montessori experience and also taught at St. Anne. Miss Joan, the after care provider also works here on her off hours from Little Flower. We have a huge outdoor play space with flower and vegetable gardens. We do optional enrichment programs such as gymnastics, KidzArt, live animals, and others as they are available. I am holding an open house Thursday, March 26th at 6:00 for Little Flower families. This will give you an opportunity to tour the school and meet with Davina and I, and ask any questions you may have. Please feel free to call me with any questions and pass the word about our open house tomorrow.

J.

Check out BRiDGES Preschool. They are very popular for innovative ways of creating a comfortable hands in, hands on environment that includes Music and Movement, Science, Cooking, and Gardening in a language and literacy rich environment taught by DEGREED teachers. These programs fill fast and Fall enrollment has already started. Check out the website at www.bridgespreschool.com You will be pleasantly surprised at the classy feel of the center and the customer focus. These teacher's really understand child development.

My sister-in-law owns a wonderful Montessori school called Rising Sun Montessori in Cave Creek. If you are willing to drive up there or some of the other parents are, I highly suggest that one. I know it's a little far but it's worth a shot. Her website I believe is risingsun.com but just type in Rising Sun Montessori and it should come up.
