Hi moms. My husband is out of town so I decided to have some friends over for the evening for some mom time. I was looking for some suggestions on fun things to do like any game ideas, etc.

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for all the great ideas/suggestions. We ended up playing a game & having some adult beverages. It was nice not to have any plans but would like to use some of the suggestions about having manicure, pedicure, massages, etc. I want this to be relaxing & not put anyone on the spot to be making purchases or listening to sales pitches. As moms we dont get enough time to just sit & enjoy uninterrupted conversations. Thanks again everyone.

An idea for a fun night for me would be: Mexican food + wine + People Magazine, Us, Etc. + Gerard Butler or Gael Garcia Bernal (or insert name of other HOT star) DVD to watch with my girlfriends! Or, you could invite each lady to bring their favorite dvd with a hot star and then just watch the best parts of each!

Try Bunco. There are several ways to play so go online and find one you like. Basic dice game. or Left, Right, Center . You can by the dice at toys r us. They give you little disks for points but we play for money.

Hi J C!

I agree with Gina P, and can help you and your girlfriends have a fun (complimentary!) spa/'ready for bed' party. I've done these parties as a hobby for almost 11 years, and they are a blast! Please contact me if you would like more information.

If I was going to a Mom's pajama party, I think it would be nice to be pampered, have someone come in and do manicures and pedicures, and ofcourse some great red wine or Cosmos!

My idea is to have each friend bring a few pieces of favorite jewelry....sounds weird I know. I did this once when I had a little party of female family members. It turned out each piece of jewelry had a story behind it and it was the sharing of the stories that was really special. This is a good activity if you are having a smaller number of friends who you know pretty well....sort of an winding down the night kind of thing. Have fun!

JC, I would have a stack of board games, and some videos. And no agenda what so ever. Just a nice night to hang out. This will be a weird analogy but bare with me lol. When I did daycare the parents always wanted to know the curriculum. Which I had planned in advance. Always stuff listed for the day. But when we went for a walk if we happened to cross a funny leaf or worm on the sidewalk it wa nothing to get sidetracked for the day talking about it and moving in that direction. Just let youself enjoy the moment of having friends over with nothing you have to do. Have some munchies and movies or games as backup. Your going to have a blast. The jewelry thing sounds fun but some people may feel put on the spot if they are not all from the same crowd with the same backgrounds. I myself have really no special jewelry so that would be hard for me I would be sure nothing I have could compare with what someone else has even if its a gumball machine ring with funny story.

Have your girls bring their favorite PJ's in a brown paper bag. after they are all there pull them out and guess who's is whose. Same with a baby picture. Share wedding photos. Tell of deliveries in ten words or less. Describe what kind of fruit you are and why. (pineapple - scary, prickly on the outside but sweet in the middle) xo have fun!!

I always think we overthink things. Mom's usually just need to decompress, complain about their hubbies, and kids and drink a little, maybe a movie. Don't plan anything too elaborate as it just becomes work and also every feels like it's just one more thing they have to join. We never planned anything for slumber parties when I was a teen, except to not sleep and attempt not to get the police called. So just in case your wondering having a food fight in a car in pj's and socks in the jewel parking lot will get attention from the police.

I just went to one of these and had a blast. We played games (Apples to Apples and Wii), had all those yummy snacks we so carefully avoid & cocktails (of course). Have fun!
