Hi,
We recently moved to Ann Arbor from California and I'm looking for a Mom's Group to network with. Does anyone know of any? My son just turned 1 and is very social. It's been so hard being stuck indoors! Looking forward to any suggestions...

What can I do next?

H.,

I belong to the MOM's Club of Ann Arbor, you can find it on the web and have found it to be great. But I know there are at least a couple of other mom's organizations in the area, do a search on the web and you will find a couple and see which one sounds like the best for you! Good luck, we too moved from CA and about this time of the year I always start kicking myself :)

Hi H.!

Welcome to Michigan, and Washtenaw county! I'm right next to Ann Arbor myself.

I can't offer any moms groups, but the malls often have areas where the kids can just run around etc and the folks sit on the perimeters. You might make a connection that way with other parents. Or put up a notice on a bulliten board at whatever store you shop at, "Looking for a moms group in such and such an area of AA" and leave tel # tabs for someone to call you. Or at your/a doctor's office. Or church.

Indigo Forest (a Holistic Family Center) is a nice place to meet new moms, and they have a resource board that tells how to get in touch with the "Holistic Mom's Network". They also have mother-baby classes starting this winter. Currently have shortened hours - Mon, Wed, Sat 10 am - 6 pm. I think their web address is www.VisitIndigo.com. Good Luck ( and welcome!!)

H., there is a very active MOPS (Moms of PreSchoolers) group in Ann Arbor. It is through St Luke's church on Washtenaw. There is a waitlist, so I would suggest getting on it now, and then you could start in January or February with the new semester. Check out http://www.stlukeaa.org/women/ for more info. This site also lists a smaller MOPS group in Whitmore Lake that you could join.

There is the MOMS Club of Ann Arbor, Mothers and More of Washetenaw Co. There is a few on meetup.com (Day out w mommy, ann arbor parents, and hip mamma). Just google any of those and I am sure you will find your way. Lamaze and Urban Toddler have groups too.
