Hello all,

My husband is being transferred from the Washington DC area to Rosemont IL. We are still unsure of our exact address as we are still searching for rental homes.
At the time of our move, which sould be sometime in Sept, I will be around 5 months along. I'm very attached to my OBGYN here and will be sorry to leave. I know NO ONE in Chicagoland area to advise me on finding a new, trustworthy, honest OBGYN.
If anyone could provide some referals of OBGYNs that they absolutely love it would help me tremendously. This is our first child so I'm already a little nervous anyway.

Thank you so much for your advice and assistance.
V/R,
K. Rife

So What Happened?

I want to thank you all so much for your advice!!! Especially Nina and Elisabeth! I ended up at Associates in Obstetrics & Gynecology in Park Ridge. I absolutely love all of the Doctors there. In addition they are attached directly to Lutheran General which I like also. I got to come up over the summer and 3 of my husband's co-workers all had their little ones there (1 had a set of twins!!) and they all spoke so highly of the hospital and the Doctors so I decided that would be a good place for our little one too. By the way, we found out it is a boy!!!! Now I'm off to find Daycare and a Ped.
Oh... I almost forgot...we ended up moving to Elk Grove Village!

I had my daughter in January at Northwestern Womens Hospital. My doctor-Dr. Chen was awesome. She is with the Northwestern Physician Group. Their website is http://www.nmpg.com/default.aspxpage=Article&article=...
and their information is
680 N. Lake Shore Drive, Suite 810
Chicago, Illinois 60611

I actually saw a couple doctors there-Dr.Moses, Dr. Garvey too-they were both awesome. Northwestern is opening their new hospital in October, so it will be brand new. It is suppose to be amazing. Good luck and congrats on your upcoming baby. Don't worry about the baby- I was worried too about what to do and what not to do. When the baby comes, you will know what to do and the hospital staff will help you too when you are at the hosptial with questions. You can take a class with Northwestern which helped as well. If you have any other questions, shoot me an email at ____@____.com.

Hi K.-

First of all, congrats on your pregnancy and hope you enjoy Chicago. I lived there for 4 yrs and loved it. I had my daughter at Northwestern Memorial Hospital downtown. I went to Prentice Women's Center for all my appts (within NW Hospital and everything can be done in the same building from your monthly appts to ultrasounds and delivery). My doctor was Catherine Clinton and I really liked her but there are several other doctors in the practice that are all very good. They are located at 333 East Superior St., Ste. 444, Chicago. The tel. # is ###-###-####. I actually found Dr. Clinton from recommendations of other moms on Mamasource when I was looking for an OB/GYN.

Good luck!

Hi K.-

I love my Ob-GYN and have heard nothing but great reviews from the nurses and others in the hospital. His name is Robert Koss and he is associated with Luthern General hospital. His practice is "Focus on Womens health" ###-###-####. He is the only Dr in the practice so sometimes there is a little bit of a wait, but he's worth it. He's very personable and down to earth- it's easy to forget that he's a Dr.

Good luck on your move and with the new baby-

J.

Check out Northwest OB/GYN in Park Ridge. Drs. Ann La Barge and Heather Cushing are two I'd recommend. They work out of Lutheran General which is a good hospital.

I don't know how far they will be from you but I have heard great things about West Suburban Midwives (www.westsubmidwives.com) and Midwest Midwifery (www.midwestmidwifery.com). Also you can find a midwife at www.midwife.org .As a mother of two and Labor and Delivery nurse I highly recommend a midwife over an OB to care for you during a low risk pregnancy/birth- it is shown to reduce complications and women report higher satisfaction. Good luck with your pregnancy!

I wholeheartedly recommend Associates in OB-GYN at the Parkside Building, next to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. It's very close to Rosemont. Dr. Maureen Carson delivered my son, but all three doctors (all women) are great. Their number is ###-###-####
