Missing Period

1. This is something I've read about with many Yaz users regardless of how they are using it
2. You are toying with your bodies hormones and it is dangerous. Hormones control much more in our bodies than reproduction so PLEASE consider stopping birth control to get your body back into balance. You are risking estrogen dominance (I'd say you were already there) among other hormone imbalance problems.

I used to take Estrostep, and I never skipped the last row of pills, but my periods eventually dwindled to nothing, and I would go several months without a period at all. I think some types may just be more likely to cause that, although I don't know how Yaz compares to other brands. My doc said it was fine, no big deal, and hey, I wasn't complaining! Awesome! But then I had to switch brands due to insurance not covering that brand anymore and now I have periods again. :( So that's my take, and if a pill made me start to miss periods, I wouldn't worry about it. I'm guessing that another possibility is that skipping some period weeks and then taking them sometimes may just be wreaking a little harmless havoc with your system and it is just trying to adjust.

Well, you're messing with your body pretty severely, there. I think it's safe to assume that it's just trying to figure itself out.

I hope you'll reconsider this practice. It's really not good for you. Hormonal birth control, to start with, is very unhealthy; skipping periods feels convenient, but you need to let your body do what it is designed to do.

Are you having any pain or pinching in the ovary(s)?

Ovarian cysts can cause the period to stop.

Did your Dr. recommend you take the pills this way?
What does your Dr. say about you being late?

I recently watched a Berman and Berman episode that said this is safe, as long as you have at least three to four periods a year. On the show, the OB/GYN that explained it said that she gets an extreme, dehabilitating migraine when her periods first start, so if she is having a big conference or something when they are supposed to start, she will skip her "period pills". I personally wouldn't mess with how God made us work, except under exteme circumstances, but that's just me - they did say it was mostly safe.

As far as your question, my 18 year old daughter went months without a period (no birth control pills). After numerous doctor visits, they finally determined that her hormone levels were off the chart. The OB/GYN had never seen anyone's so abnormal. They put her on a 10 day pill, then on birth control to try to regulate her. She has had a period, but hasn't been retested yet. So no periods can definately mess with your hormone levels, and I would go in to see an OB/GYN or at least your family doctor.

I think you had better start the new month now. I took some real strong pills way back in the 70's and went for over a year without a period. The doctor said that it was fine but that I needed to take them as scheduled. Well sure enough I ran out of pills and had scheduled a yearly to get a refill and got pregnant after being off of them only two weeks. So get back on them now. Just in case.

Have you talked to your doctor about how you are taking the birth control pills? I doubt that he/she would approve of your method. I think there's a pill where you only have your period 4 times a year. I remember there were a bunch of commercials when it first came out....Seasonale, I think? If that's what you're wanting to do, you should be on a pill that is designed for that. You definitely need to see your doctor again, for a method of birth control that is better suited to your wants and needs and for a pregnancy test.
