I have a five month old baby girl. I'm currently on birth control Luestra. I've had a period since giving birth but now I have missed two in a row. I've taken two pregnancy tests and both are negative. Does anyone know if this is common to have missed periods with this birth control or is it common since it's not been too long since I've had my daughter. Like I said I have had I think a couple periods before but now I've missed two. I even have symtoms having a period like bloating and crampy feeling but no period. I'm calling my doctor on Monday but just thought I would see what anyone has to say.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I went to the doctor today. I'm not pregnant. My doctor said my last pap test in Aug. was normal. She said that I may not have periods with birth control and that is okay. Thanks for all your kinds words. I was really nervous that something was wrong with me and you all helped me through it. Thanks.

Hi, when I first had my daughter I was on birth control. My doctor told me that sometimes with birth control, and breast feeding, that you might stop having periods. Hope the best.

Your doctor may have to make an adjustment to your birth control. I've not ever taken birth control pills, but it could be an imbalance due to the birth control. I would definately check with a doctor to be sure though as not all home pregnacy tests are accurate (either a false-positive or a false-negative).

Have you been under stress lately?
High stress could also be the cause of lost periods.

Good luck.

Hey S.,

I m not sure if you are breast feeding or not. But I have 2 sons, and I brest fead both of them. I didnt have a period for 12 months straight with my first one and 14 months almost 15 with my second one.
I think your body might just be adjusting. Expessially if you are breast feeding.

Hope that helps

I also missed periods after having my daughters. I was actually trying to get pregnant and after the third missed period I got pregnant. The other two months I had just not had a period. This happens esp. if you are still breast feeding or trying to quit. But it is possible to have a "period" but not bleed. Hence me still being able to get pregnant.

It is normal to not have periods for up to the first 12 months after birth. Check with your OBGYN though just to make sure.

Good Luck!

Some of the newer birth control pills can do that. My period was always irregular before I got pregnant so it's hard to figure out what's going on. I tried Seasonale and Yasmin and got my periods all the time

I often miss periods for months on end while I am on birth control. My OBGYN said that this is common. He said that if the test says negitive and I am not having other pregnacy symptoms then not to worry about it. I only have a period once every 4 months or so.

Depending on some birth control pills, some of them can stop the periods all together. Ask your doctor if this is normal.
