So I went to the doctor today and had my first exam done since finding out I was pregnant on Sunday. I had been spotting the days before. It was very light a minimum well today come to find out I had what was called a cervical polyp. Which is like a growth of tissue that collects blood and bleeds. Needless to say that was found right away and was removed. Once that was removed the doctor did the ultrasound. But nothing was found, she said she wanted me to come in for another ultra sound and more blood work. She said she would have the final results for me by Monday, whether I was still pregnant or not. I just don't understand this I had no cramping yes I had bleeding but because of the polyp. But that was it I don't know what to think I only hope and pray that I'm still pregnant. Has anyone ever gone through this I've gone through a situation similar to this?? Please don't be harsh right now. Only positive energy.

What can I do next?

The pain is not knowing. I get that. I am so sorry that you are going through this. I had two miscarriages within 2 years and the first one devastated me. It sent me into a huge depression. BUT, I did have bleeding with my pregnancies with both of my girls and thought that I was losing them but they are here and are 23 and 11 years old. My advice is to relax. Pray if that is what you believe and talk to you spouse. This will define your relationship. No matter what the outcome communicate how you are feeling and make sure that you are being heard in a pleasant way. Find other ladies who can listen to you and help you through it too. Good luck.

Unfortunately as the first poster mentioned , a urine test will not give you the answer. But of course you already knew that. How long are they making you wait to do another ultra sound? How many weeks are you? Did they take blood? I have had similar experience resulting in both viable and lost pregnancy. You have to play the waiting game. I just want to tell you that I remember how hard the minutes, hours, and days were waiting to retest. If you are under 7 weeks, they may not do another ultrasound because of how hard it it to find baby that early. Blood work to test descending or increasing pregnancy hormone is probably the best indicator if you are too early to see baby on ultrasound. But if your experience is like mine, they make you wait two weeks to do another ultrasound. The longest 2 weeks of my life! And I understand the need to reach out to hear anything encouraging. Twice they could not find my baby on ultrasound around week 6-8 and it had been there all along. Sometimes Dr.s office ultrasound machines are not as good, and the doctor is not as good at finding it as the ultrasound technician in the Radiology dept. with better equipment is. If you are early, its all very possible it just could not be detected, or honesty that the Dr. just couldn't find it. If they are sending you into Radiology for another Ultrasound there is hope. Twice the tech found what the Doc could not for me.

A simple urine test would give you an answer right away. Why didn't the doctor do that?

If you had the first ultrasound today, I'm very surprised that they are going to do another one tomorrow. What difference would a day make? How far along are you supposed to be? If you're not at least 8-10 weeks along, there is no point in even doing an ultrasound yet.

When I was in this situation 2 years ago, I read a lot of things online while I was waiting the torturous week long time period in between ultrasounds. What I found was about 50% ended up being pregnant and it was just too early for the ultrasound to pick it up, and 50% ended up with a blighted ovum or something similar. I hope that you're in the first category. Best wishes and prayers to you!

Pregnancy is a waiting game.
I hope it turns out the way you want it to.
On the one hand - it's miserable not knowing and feeling brokenhearted.
On the other hand - that might be the pregnancy hormones talking to you.

How far along to you think you are (a few weeks? a few months?)?
I'm not sure what an ultrasound is going to tell you if it's really early on.
I would think a few blood tests that show a rapidly increasing hcg level would be the best indication of pregnancy for right now.
Try to relax as much as possible.
Stressing over it isn't going to help.
Staying off the internet might be a good idea for awhile.

When my daughter was pregnant but not far along they did a vaginal ultra sound and could see the baby that way.

Ultra sounds, the regular kind done on the skin of the tummy, only really work when your a couple of months along

I hope you'll let us know how things turn out.

Aw, hang in there and try to think positive, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, pregnancy loss or even threatened pregnancy loss is very heartbreaking :(

Mamazita - a urine test isn't gonna tell her anything, your hcg doesn't drop to zero instantaneously, you can have a positive pregnancy test for quite some time after a loss... Comparing the hcg of 2 or more blood tests tells them what they need to know

I go in for the second ultrasound tomorrow then on Friday I go in for the second bloodwork the doctor said my Monday she should know. When she did the first ultrasound with that wanted it felt like she was looking right felt like she was barely even looking not to be gross or anything like she should've put on further and she can have a better look to see where the baby could be. I'm not sure if it makes a difference or not but I just think she could've looked a little harder.
