It really depends. I just had a miscarriage last month. I was only about 5 weeks along so I didn't need a D&C. My doc told me I didn't have to wait. So I didn't and now I'm pregnant again! :)

usually you have to wait about 3 months, that is what my doctor told me when it happened. and i believe your period will take 4-6wks, maybe sooner. unfortunately everyone is different, it could come sooner. hope this helps

I think it depends on how far along you were in the pregnancy. I had a "missed miscarriage" in December--we went for our 12-week sonogram and they found that the baby had died between 8-9 weeks. So on January 4 I had a d&c. I got my first period about six weeks after that. My doctor advised waiting one cycle before trying again to give my body time to heal. We did that and got pregnant during the next cycle. I'm now 21 weeks pregnant and have had absolutely no problems this time. I am sorry for your loss. Allow yourself some time to grieve, try to ignore the "helpful" things people say to you, and know that you will move on. It's difficult but it will happen. Peace to you.

I'm surprised you doctor hasn't discussed this with you. This is a matter you should address to your OB/GYN.

After my D&C, it took about 3 months for my cycle to come back.

Some doctors encourage you to try again right away. I've had a few friends get pregnant the very next month, because contrary to logical thought, you are actually quite fertile after miscarriage. It's like your body is "primed" for pregnancy.

That said, be careful--it's emotionally taxing to try again and possible lose another ... give yourself a breather.

When I had my miscarriage it was in December (of that year) and i was told to wait until I had a cycle again to even have sex. My cycle came within 30 days, however i do not know if that's the norm. Then after that it was ok.

We found out in March we were expecting again...and now she's 10!

Blessings,
A.

Just do it when you get your cycle back on track. I've gotten pregnant three cycles after.
