I have had my IUD for almost a year now and I love it. I think it is the best thing ever!! Problem is my husband hates it, I was told by my doctor that he would not be able to feel it when we were together. My husband has felt it from day one. I had my first one removed a few months back because we thought the strings were too short and that's why he could feel it. Now with the second one he says he still feels it, he says some times it hurts but mostly it's just annoying. I talked to my doctor about it again and she said I was the first women to have had problems like this. Has any one else had this issue? I really don't want to give up my IUD but it's really starting to cause problems in the bedroom.

What can I do next?

I have a Mirena and my husband felt it, too. My doctor also said it's not too common. I had the strings trimmed. It helped a little. Mostly, I just had to wait a few months for the strings to soften. Now my strings are so far up and wound around me that he can't feel it anymore, but the doctor had trouble finding it when I went in for a check.

I'm thinking about getting mine removed. We want to try for our third in the spring. I don't know that I'll get another.

Ouch, I remember those days...I had mine for only 6 months before I got it removed. I had non-stop bleeding, PMS 24/7, and sex, the big reason for getting it, was painful for the both of us. Obviously every women's body isn't gonna be the same as far as having that type of BC, but if it's not comfortable, it won't get better unless its out! Thankfully it doesn't hurt one bit when its pulled out, but hopefully you do whats right for you and the hubby. I can't handle any BC anymore, so I am just waiting for #2 to be conceived. Good luck:)

I had mined removed and this was one of the main reasons. I did also get heavy bleeding after it was in for 2 years. But my husband got what looked like rug burn from it and he said that he could feel it also. I too had the string trimmed and that still didn't help. You aren't the only one! After that I went on a low dose birth control...to prevent the wild mood swings and I take it continusly for 3 months then get my period...I love only having 4 periods a year! I recommend going that route! Good luck!

Oh, wow, that really sucks that you've had this problem. I've had mine for about 10 months. At first my husband could feel the strings, but now they've sorta wound around me and he doesn't get poked anymore. It's a little trickier for me to find them to check on them (I've had a few panics there, lol) but so far so good. I just love mine too, it's SO much easier than remembering to take a pill! If it isn't working for the two of you, it isn't working... so I guess it's time to look for something else to use. Good luck!

I had the same problem. My husband said it hurt when the strings poked him. I just went in and had the doctor trim the strings. After that they just softened a bit and then it was ok. Maybe try repositioning the strings when you check them.

I have this same problem, and my doctor told me that my strings may be too long and I also am thinking about getting it removed because my partner says they hurt. But this a very good birth control so I can feel you when you say you dont want to give it up yet, so if you hear something let me know.

My hubby only felt it once in a while, Have the strings trimmed and try different positions. My hubby said it felt like something was scratching him. I loved the mirena but recently took it out to try to get prego with #4!
