Hey! Has anyone ever heard of milk pearls? I was with a friend when I noticed these white pus like bumps in my son's mouth- 2 of them on the rear roof of his mouth. She thought they were called "milk pearls," but I am unable to google them. Sound familiar to anyone?

My son had what looked like teeth starting to poke through where his canines would be at about two months old. I thought he was cutting his first teeth. The doctor called them pearls and told me they would go away.
my son had this too! my ped. first thought it was a set of "natel teeth" but when another dr. looked at it they said it was'nt teeth. thank goodness, i kept thing my son was a shark with that many sets of teeth!!!!hahah! it actually just went away on it's own, now he is 4 with no problems with his mouth or teeth!! i like to think it was a sign of good luck too!

They are called Epstein pearls, they are very common in newborns and young infants. They are harmless cyst-like bumps that require no treatment and will go away on their own in a couple weeks. Congrats on your baby, glad to hear he is doing well.

Never heard of milk pearls. If you notice any bumps on hands or feet as well, it may be hand, mouth, foot disease. It includes a possible fever and being lethargic. If it's only the mouth, then it's probably not that. Good luck.
It seems like it was so long ago though it was only in January but my daughter had one. The nurse practioner in the office tried to say she had thrush but when my pediatrician looked at it, she said it was milk on her tongue and then the pearl thing you mentioned. She told me about it and of course I can't remember exactly what she said but she said it was totally fine. She said that it is known as some type of pearl and told me of this really cool story about it being some type of luck/fortune for the baby. I wish I could remember more for you but my 2 children have sucked all short term memory from me and that seems like it was years ago! I would check w/your pediatrician for more info but if it is the same thing as my daughter had, it just goes away. Good luck and sorry if I am not much help.
My son was born at 24 weeks gestation, survived through medical intervention and consequently had severe disabilities. You didn't mention how your son is doing, but you should know that Chicago has incredible resources to help with these issues.

If the white bumps dont come off I would suggest seeing your ped he may have thrush. Welcome to the area!

Our daughter had the Epstein pearls to. They were just little white bumps on the roof of her mouth. Our peds doctor told us they would go away and if they did they would the first time she bit into hot food. Our dauther is now 3 and they went away quickly on her. They are harmless, but scare you the first time you see them. Most people think of thrush first, but it is not. Talk with your peds doctor. I am sure he/she will put your fears to rest. Congrats on the new baby.

Sounds like oral thrush to me...a yeast infection in hte mouth. though it sounds gross, it is very common with babies. The doctor can perscribe drops to clear it up.
