I am trying to get pregnant (I took a test today and I am NOT)and I started having mid-cycle bleeding a few days ago. It's fairly light, I don't need a tampon or pad, but it is readily noticable when I go to the bathroom. I made a doctors apt with my OB, but can't get in for a month. I know some people bleed when Ovulating, and I should be ovulating around this time, but I've never had this mid- cycle bleeding before. Is this normal? Has anyone had a similiar experience. I'm trying not to jump to any conclusions. I've also had some cramping on and off all month.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone. I haven't been on BC for over a year. I have an earlier apt on Tuesday with my regular doctor and then will follow up with the Gyn. I'm hoping its just stress, or something simple.

I agree with an earlier post that it could be implantation bleeding. The urine pregnancy test is based on the level of the pregnancy hormone (hCG) that is in your urine. With the current test availible, it could take a few weeks to have a detectible level.
Make sure you get lots of water in, sometimes that can help with cramping.
Secondly, a month to get into your OB?? not cool. You might want to consider switching to an ob who can get you in same day for emergencies, and within the week for regular appts.

N.,
When I was first pregnant I had implantation bleeding - when the egg attaches to your uterus, sometimes you bleed a little.
I would wait to take a pg test for another few days or so. And maybe you can get in to your OB sooner, maybe on a cancellation list.
Good Luck!

I think you need to be checked now. if your dr. can't do it go to the er..my 3rd pregnacy i was spotting and some times full blown change your pants now. my ob said it was normal. i went to the er and found out i was haveing an etopic pregnacy, don't wait till it's too late. get checked now.i was 3 1/2 monthes along, first they said it was a misscarriage and did the d & c. a week later they let me know i was still pregnant. I was more confused @ the dr. were suppose to trust them. well I think during my d & c they should of known then, not make me wait another week..get checked now, so you can release all worries, It could be a cyists or anything. don't wait just go, good luck

I find myself wondering if you were taking the pill, or some other form of hormonal birth control. If you just recently stopped taking it, this mid-cycle activity might be in connection with your body's re-adjustment to menstruation. If this is the case, it was likely you were ovulating when you noticed the spotting. If there is no pain, and you are not at all "late," this shouldn't be too much of a concern.

I would still consider trying to get into your doctor soon, though. Never hurts to check. I had no periods for three months, but was continually testing negative on the pregnancy tests. It was only after we miscarried an ectopic pregnancy that we found out I was pregnant after all. As scary as this can seem, there was nothing that could have been done differently, even if we had known I was pregnant.
