Mesh in the arms (long sleeve - stretched in the armpit) of my daughter’s leotard are stretched out. Is there a way to repair this? Buying another leo is not an option.

What can I do next?

If you're handy with a needle and thread, you could maybe try and detach the sleeves, cut off the part that is stretched out, and resew it to make a 3/4 length sleeve. Other than that I don't really think so. Maybe you could cut off the sleeves entirely and make it a tank sleeve.

If money is an issue you may ask the gym. Sometimes when girls grow out of theirs people will resell them at a lower cost at the desk.

I don't think that is fixable unless you are pretty crafty with sewing.

Leotards are not typically that pricey and if you can't afford a new one (even from a discounter such as Marshalls, etc) then why are you in the program? Gymnastics, dance, cheer are all pricey and get get more costly as you move up in the program

Look into re-sale items, discount stores and maybe a good tailor.

We have a local seamstress who works miracles on all kinds of fabrics - including athletic wear. I'd ask around - sometimes dance clubs/gymnastics clubs have their own person who does repairs or would know of someone.

My friend had a pair of expensive girl leggings taken in down the bottom seam where they had worn a bit and they now look like new. I would not have thought you could take that kind of material in, but it was doable. It was very reasonable.

That would be my suggestion.

Good luck

I would call a seamstress or places that do alterations. When I needed alterations done a couple of years ago, I was shocked at how inexpensive it was!

You could also try Craigslist or Play it Again Sports or a consignment shop. Call a few places and ask around. You just never know what you might find. I have found so many sporting clothes (uniform pants, kleats) at consignment shops. It really does lighten the burden.

I really don't know if there is a way to fix that. But like TtotheH said you might ask the gym if there is anyone that is selling theirs that doesn't fit. I am assuming this is a competition leo. Maybe find a seamstress that might know how to fix it.

i've never heard of being able to re-tighten stretched out mesh. if you can't buy another leotard you may need to look into having new arms sewed on.
