Hello Ladies!!
I was wondering if Anyone has taken Meridia or knows someone who has?
I HAVE researched it on the website-and hadnt seen anything "Bad" about it and my I talked to my Dr about weight loss and what i MIGHT DO and he said that HE could put me on a diet pill called Meridia.

My SIL said her brother and his wife is on it and has lost some weight already on it, without excercise. I mean they work and do the normal things daily but no actual excercise.

So what do u all think???

Thanks! =)

What can I do next?

Hi B.:

My sister-in-law has been on Meridia for about 9 months now and she loves it (so much so that she doesn't want to stop taking it!) although her Dr. wants her off now as it is my understanding that it can be bad for your heart. I know she has lost more than 50 pounds on it without excercise and said that she has so much more energy than she has ever had. I know that the Dr. moniters you while you are on it (i.e. weekly weight checks, etc.) so it seems like a safe alternative but I thnk its a little scary myself. She was told it increases your heart rate and so forth and that it is a similiar composition of the deadly drug Phen-phen that was pulled off the market years ago but safer. I did some research on it too when she first got on it and have not found anything bad about it yet but it is a farely new drug on the market too. I would discuss your concerns etc with your Doctor (I am not a Doctor) so I have no idea the side effects (short term or long term) but I would probobly find out if there are any long term side effects that he is aware of. I know my brother-in-law took one of the pills for some extra energy one day and he said he was bouncing off the walls - lol! Also, I know my sister-in-law has been looking into getting the pills on-line since her Dr. doesn't want her to be on it any longer (which I have told her is very unsafe)so I would also check with your Dr. to see why they suggest limiting the amount of time on it. Anyway, I hope this helps with your decision and please feel free to email me if you have nay more questions about it. Another thing my mom and sister have tried is the Nutri-System diet with great success too (both lost over 30 pounds in 3 months) without excercise as well.

Take care and good luck!

B.,

Meridia works in the brain and it gave me a panic attack. I stopped taking it after one pill. It was not covered by my insurance, either. Let me say, though, that I am prone to panic attacks, but I was not in the least bit worried about taking it and had no anxiety. I took one pill and went about my business, forgot all about it, then about 20 minutes later, I had a panic attack.

Hi B.,

I have a friend of took Meridia. She lost like 20 pounds within the first check up w/ her doctor. She went off of it because it got to be really expensive per month. I would make sure you check out with your doctor and insurance what the costs would be. Heck, nowadays, you can get it online.

My friend did NOT exercise.....so I do believe your doctor would be right in telling you what should/would work for you.

I can help you with Scrapbooking, ha! I'm an instructor and run it out of my home! If you need or have any questions, let me ____@____.com is my email!

Good luck!

Hi B. I used Meridia 3-4 years ago and I was on it for about 6 months. The way it works is it sends messages to your brain that you are either not hungry or that you are fuller faster when you do eat. I didn’t alter what I ate or exercise at all so my results were I lost like 2 pounds in six months. I bet if you eat healthy you would lose more weight. Exercise doesn’t hurt but if you are busy like everyone else that may rank low on your to do list. But I didn’t gain weight which was good for me bc I was putting on weight at a fast rate at that period of time. I was diagnosed with PCOS which also makes losing weight harder. So good luck give it a whirl and if you don’t see any results after three months then get off of it. Best wishes!

I have not taken Meridia or any other weight-loss drug, but I realize that many people do and it is certainly their choice to do so.

My main concern is the 'no actual exercise' issue that has been mentioned. If you take the drug, and don't modify your nutrition and exercise plan, then what happens when you go off the drug? Sure, the pill will likely assist you with your weight loss and help you get to your goal, but will the weight eventually be put back on once you go off the pill without adopting a healthy nutrition and exercise lifestyle?

Just something to think about before spending your money on something that is expensive. You don't want to spend all that money, only to have the weight come back.
