Men's Watch Recommendations

Just got a promotion at work and would like to get my husband a nice watch to celebrate the promotion and Father's Day. (It's something he's been wanting but we've put off.) Any recommendations for a nice, classic but not outrageously expensive watch? (Nicer than a Timex but not quite a Rolex!)

What can I do next?

You can get a Movado for about $800 its a nice timepiece and def a classic style watch. How much are you looking to spend? You can look into Breitling which is a beautiful piece...a lot of men desire one! It will cost you a few thousand but not nearly as much as a Rolex. You can negotiate the price on these.

My husband used to love his Citizen, now owns Breitling (still wears Citizen at times). I love the way the look.

I used to work at a jewelry store that carried all of those brands as well as a few others. One very popular brand is Tag and they have watches in all price ranges from a couple hundred to several thousand. They are very stylish and have most of the same features as the citizen but I believe they run on battery. My husband and I both have citizen Eco Drives though and are very happy with them.

I wouldn't rule out Timex. They have some really nice upper end models that you may be surprised by. Armitron is a fine watch, too and are slightly more expensive than the Timex.

Burberry. We got my husband one for his birthday this year and he always gets compliments from the other guys at his office. They are very classy looking and not too overpriced.

I gave my husband a Citizen Eco Drive (silver, with a gray/blue face) for our wedding, and he loves it. I think it was around $300-350 and has been working beautifully for a few years. It looks great with his business attire and also dresses up weekend attire. I think it's a great looking watch!

I asked my husband because he LOVES watches (he actually has 5 of them)....He's very picky about watches and has specific things he looks for. He has suggested the following : (Lower End Price) Citizen Eco Drive $250-$450 (his was just under $400 on sale). Anything by Citizen is a pretty good choice. But he does have the Citizen Eco Drive, which he picked out for me to get him for his 1st Father's Day. It has no battery, has swiss movements, powered by light and movement, mostly by movement (not solar, but along those lines)..he said with the Eco Drive, if you put it away in a drawer for a week and then take it back it and put it on or shake it a little bit, it will power right back up. Water resistent and can be worn in the shower, pool, etc. Can be worn every day and is excellant quality. He said if you are looking for a very nice watch for your hubby, he would recommend THIS ONE. He said that this is the type of watch that he will have til the day he dies and then can leave it to his son to have til the day he dies.

Higher end would be a Brietling, but they run about $2000 or so, depending on where you get them. He doesn't HAVE a Brietling, but said that this is his dream watch when he grows up and has lots of $$ LOL

Skagen watches are nice. My husband is a watch guy and he has several. The titanium watches are very light weight and look great. The outlet mall on Farnsworth has a Skagen outlet store. They are very affordable.

Seiko watches are great. Be sure to check the department stores and Kohl's for sales, as well as the jewelry stores. I got one about half price about two months ago at Kohl's. Seiko also makes a second brand, can't remember the name.

Congratulations! My husband loves watches and has quite a few. I would suggest ESQ, Movado, or Tag Heuer. My husband's favorite is his Raymond Weil, my wedding gift to him.

Congratulations! What a great partner you are to want to share your achievements. We are a Raymond Weil family. They are thin and understated. They have very expensive ones, but the basics are just as good.

You can buy a lower end used Rolex at a Gold and Silver Store. They have the same warranties, etc.

I saw some there when we were buying coins and I asked about them because I wear a Rolex and they had different "faces" available.

I didn't know they sold used ones. We could have saved about $5000.
