For the last few days my 2 yr old has been having poops that literally look like melted pistachio ice cream! He isnt really eating anything and is super fussy and cant seem to sleep through the night. What could be wrong with him and what can I do for him?

What can I do next?

Well, there goes my love for pistachio ice cream...
Green bowel movements usually indicate a virus of some sort, which goes along with his fussiness and lack of appetite. I would suggest you call the pediatrician and ask their advice.

The only time I had ever seen this as a nanny was when a dad was giving a child some of his Slimfast milkshakes. (No, I am not joking.... the mother was furious)... Otherwise, I agree with talking to your pediatrician.

Could be a virus.

On the other hand, is he drinking a purple drink? Purple cool aid or sometimes purple grape juice can cause green poop. It could also be giving him a tummy ache, enough to keep him irratible.

Look at what he is eating.

My son had greeny pistachio colored poops from eating too many Fruit Snacks, any kind: fruit by the foot, Welch's, etc.

Virus? Often an upper respiratory infection causes post nasal drip, which can be green. Spring allergies can increase that junk up inside the sinuses and nose. It can also cause congestion at night and disrupt sleep. Is he getting some new teeth? Sometimes increased saliva can upset the stomach too.

Increase fluids (mostly water, please) - go easy on dairy when there is intestinal stuff going on. If there's diarrhea, or even with stomach upset, use BRAT: bananas, rice, applesauce, toast. Maybe a little turkey for protein. Otherwise, feed him smaller amounts of a balanced diet, and more often. Let him rest, with extra naps, especially since he's not getting as much sleep at night. Today's Tuesday. If he's not improving by Thursday, call the pediatrician. Otherwise you'll be dealing with it through the weekend, and that's always frustrating and more worrisome.

Something is going around. I'd call the doc and get his/her opinion on it. My DD is not feeling well, either, but it sounds like your son has something worse. My DD can at least sleep at night and isn't fussy. If his lack of appetite and other symptoms have been going on for several days, another issue is hydration. I was told yesterday that DD needs to pee at least 3x a day. Limit the juice, but pedialyte, watered down Gatorade, flat ginger ale and water are good. No milk or dairy.
