Has anyone else gotten these blochy spots on their face? I've got some blotchy spots on my face, upper lip & forehead. I had a little when I was pregnant. When I developed cysts on my ovaries I began birth control to try to shrink them. I feel like if I was outside at all the spots got darker & more pronounced. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this & what I can do to get rid of it.

What can I do next?

I have it too on my forehead, and it was worse when I was pregnant due to hormonal changes. You could see a dermatologist and they can give you a cream which will lighten it, but if you go out in the sun it will come back. Being from South Florida, and outside all the time, I haven't bothered to treat it. I just wear sunscreen so it doesn't get worse. It is probably fine, and I am sure you think it looks worse than it really is, we are always so much harder on ourselves.

YES! I know all about Melasma! I got it when I was pregnant with my first, but it went away on its own. Then, it came back (worse..especially on my cheeks) when I was pregnant with my second. It never went away and got even worse when I started back on birth control pills. I went to my dermatologist and they put me on the Obagi skin care line. I used it for 18 weeks and my Melasma is just GONE! The first few weeks on the program were rough because your skin peels ALOT and feels raw, but my dermatologist said that was to be expected and to just stick with it. I am so glad I did. I started to see real improvement after only 5 or 6 weeks! I had a friend who tried some laser treatment but she wished she had done Obagi first. Ask you doctor about it!

Yes, you will have to give up sunbathing! I wear Obagi sunblock EVERY DAY (its great alone or under makeup) and the Melasma has not come back.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Good luck!
S.

YES!!! I have it and I hate it. I finally went to a dermatologist and received a medication to rub on it nightly. It has not helped yet, but I hsve only been applying it for about two weeks. I wear a hat when I go out because the sun only enhances it. My son is 21 months. I hope this medicine will eventually make it go away (at least for a while).

it sounds like the pregnancy mask. STAY out of the sun, and wear high spf suncreen. also try products with hydronique, it really is the only thing that will lighten the skin
